Anyone have a bad experience with M*I*A?

Anyone have a bad experience with M*I*A?

Until tonight I've read only good things...

And I have my trial tomorrow morning!

I was planning to book on the spot...

Has anyone experienced her showing up late on your wedding day or 'handing you over to her team' and not having her do your hair/make up on the day of?

I've read more than a couple of negative reviews on her here...but I don't remember exactly what they were. Sorry.

I thought I once read a review that said she didn't show the day of the wedding. This was probably a month or so ago. But I cannot remember if it was definitely her - should have notebooked it!

I heard the no show was Jacqueline Nicole (which makes me nervous, since she is my artist, but I love her, so I'll deal). But I have read many negative reviews re: ***, none recently, but about showing up late and talking on the phone

I had no problems at all with M*I*A on my wedding day she came early at 6am and did both my SIL and myself beautifly. Both of our hair lasted all night and she is just a nice and sweet person.

I have my trial with her next week. I've read up on her a ton, and the main complaints are that she will sometimes talk on her phone during the trial. Her booker also *****, communication is not their strong suit.

HOWEVER, from what I have read, she is reliable and extremely talented. One girl even said she woke up at 5 am on her wedding day to see M*I*A sleeping in her car outside she she wasn't late.

I think if you like her work, and are clear about any concerns and she addresses them, then book with confidence.

M*I*A is NOT the girl who didn't show up. It was Jaqueline Nicole, who was in a car accident and apologized profusely as it was beyond her control.

I am booked with M*I*A and my other friend who I am a BM for just booked her too. She is a true artist at what she does and she did our makeup the same day we had our e-pics.

The only complaints I've seen is of her on the phone and answering emails. In my experience, I've called her and she's answered. The emails didn't take that long. I contacted another MU artist on this site and she took twice as longer to get back to me.

I think she's truly talented and loved the job she did for my trial. I felt so beautiful.

I am using her. I had a pretty good experience with her for my trials once I got past her assistant. Whenever I called her cell she picked up and was great with me. She was a little late for my e-pics hair makeup but she called to let me know she was going to be late beforehand. She has picked up the phone a couple times with me but it was nothing that bothered me. Plus I think she did an awesome job on my trial, she made sure everything was perfect and even brought me into different lighting to make sure everything was just right.

I am not worried about her at all.

I heard her product is good but that her customer service is quite lacking (stories about how she's on the phone while doing your makeup, yells at brides who are upset with her showing late, etc). There were some seriously scathing reviews about her canceling a week before someone's wedding a few months back. I remember feeling completely awkward about her and having a bad feeling in general from her not being a recommended vendor on here (I figure there's a reason people have to hide her name in order to get it to post legibly). I have heard that she won't make contracts at all, so people have been S.O.L. from the last-minute canceling.

But if you get a good vibe from her, the more power to you. Like I said, I've only seen great results from what brides say. Just all the other horror stories sorta mar it. You've gotta do what works for you for your wedding. Good luck with your trials!

which review is it where someone didn't show up? I never saw that one and lol I thought I'd seen most of the recent ones!

I didn't bookmark it or anything and it's almost impossible to find her reviews because of the *s thing -- sorry I can't help. I believe she called to cancel -- she didn't just not show up. Something about being double-booked and not realizing it, or having a family issue and not being able to make it.

I used her a few weeks ago and she was great! She was about 20min late on my wedding day but it was due to traffic so beyond her control

I'm using her, booked her on the spot at my trial. She definitely talked on the phone during my trial. You could tell it was all business related and I think it was her booking person most of the time. It didn't bother me, and I've heard she doesn't do that during day-of makeup.

I had a trial scheduled with her. I heard she is often late and cancels. She canceled my trial the day before. I made the trial the day I had a cousins wedding to go to because I figured I would look good for that night. So when she canceled I was upset and I didn't want to reschedule because I don't want to work with someone who will cancel the day before, even if it was just a trial.

First off just because shes not a vendor on here doesnt mean its a negative thing. Business politics and the fact that you have to PAY to be a preferred vendor on here is what keeps her off. I even had this exact conversation with my florist. A reason he is NOT a preferred vendor on here but is BY FAR the MOST professional florist I dealt with besides that he had THE BEST prices EVER.

ANYWAY, back to M**... I used her for my wedding day and she was NOT late, she was on the phone which annoyed me BUT as soon as she started hair and makeup she NEVER touched her phone or was distracted for one second. She was AMAZING and made me feel absolutely stunning that day. My hair and makeup stayed all night, my girls LOVED her, my mother and mother in law LOVED HER! My complaint with her was she charged the mothers FULL PRICE for their hair when she REALLY REALLY DIDNT do a thing for it. She LITERALLY sprayed curl activator in their hair and hairspray. O she brushed my mother in laws hair on the side back (both have VERY short hair) she charged them the full price for blowdrying/styling when she didnt do that. Otherwise She was EXACTLY on time. My trial she spent 3.5 hours with me! Gave me 3 different hair styles and 2 different makeup looks. She reccomended me to places for headpieces that were cheap and even told me she would come with me OR I could send her pics and she would tell me which one would work best with the style I chose! She was a DOLL and I HIGHLY reccomend her...

With any business, you cant please everyone and there will be negative feedback. I understand customer service may not be her strong suit but it doesnt take one once away from her talent. She is the most talented artist I came across! I Would LOVE to work with her again!
