i think it's better just go to the gym (IMO)
your not in the same enviroment when working out at home (unless your already doing it)... my motivation when im at the gym is seeing other people work out besides me wanting to drop a few lbs... jmo
good luck

Re: Anyone have a bowflex?

We've had one for 3-4 years. FH uses it at least 4-5 times a week. We love it! It's great. My sister bought one a little over a year ago and my brother-in-law uses it a few times a week.

We also have a treadmill and a stationary bike, so there's no need to go to the gym (unless there's a class I want to take). I think that long ago ours cost around $1500. Let me know if you want any more info.

Yea, see my concern is the FH wont use it - but I also know that he hates going to the gym because he is embarassed (he is really skinny)...Do you do the bike and the bowflex for a full workout?

Do you see results?

You mean my spare closet??

I prefer the treadmill and eliptical along with free weights. I was too confused by the bowflex but it makes a suburb closet.

FH used to work at the Sports Authority and worked in that section where they sell the exercise equipment. If you don't want to spend the money for the Bowflex, they sell a very similar model called the Schwinn Bowflex for much cheaper than the regular bowflex, might be worth checking out

To be honest, I did use it for a while, but I don't use it as much now- only once in a while.

FH does it often. He uses bowflex first for a while (maybe 30-60 min) then hops on the treadmill or bike for a bit. He was pretty regimented eve before we bought it, so it just comes natural for him. It comes with a workout guide depending on if you want to lose weight, gain muscle or just tone. It even has menus to follow.

We paid that much because we got almost top of the line (includes leg attachment, lat bar, rowing seat). You can get versions of it that are cheaper. It may be made of a different material, and/or not come with as much.

It's pretty expensive not to use, so you should make sure it's worth it for you. We researched it for a couple years before we got it, so we knew it was worthwhile. Good luck!
