Anyone have a cat with gingivitis?

I was looking at my cat's teeth yesterday and noticed that the back gums are bright red. I looked it up online and it sounds like she may have gingivitis. She's only 6 months old

Do you feed her wet or dry food? Sometimes hard dry food can irritate a little kitten's mouth.
Is she possibly getting new teeth?

We brush our cats teeth and LOVES it. He goes nuts for the kitty toothpaste, its a treat for him. You should look into it.

I think she is getting new teeth actually. Do you think that could be it? One other symptom that she has is really bad breath! I'm going to have her spayed in a couple of weeks so I can ask the Dr then.

She always eats wet food. We have dry food for her too, but that she really only grazes.

Thanks for the info on the toothpaste. I might try that. Hopefully she'll let me!

It could definitely be the new teeth! (which would be much better than gingivitis)

I've heard that eating wet food causes more tooth decay because it sticks in their mouth longer....maybe that is the cause of the bad breath? My kitty loves Nutro dry food and also Authority (Petsmart brand).
