I have a canon and I like it alot. Its a few years old but still does the job! Also I would recommend buying the add-on light piece. It helps when you are taping inside or at night.

Re: anyone have a great camcorder?

We just went to Best Buy and spoke for awhile with one of the sales reps who was VERY knowlegeable about camcorders. We decided on a JVC Hard Drive (no tapes). Around $500. He said Canon is the best for quality (I work for Canon & can say the quality is awesome) but the prices were $$$$ high and can't wait for the sale. The salesguy recommended the JVC and said it's personal preference between tapes and HD. I wanted Hard Drive simply for the fact it's small and I know i'll have to carry it sometimes- lol.... We didn't get high def. either (although if you have a high def. TV or blu rey you may be interested in this). Zoom, battery time are other features that FH brought up (he knows a lot more than I do). I would go into the store and talk with a sales rep. We learned a lot and it was good to see/ use a few diffferent modes. He also recommended CNET.com for reviews over any other review site... HTH & good luck!!
