I have no direct experience with Greyhounds .. but from everything I hear .. they make great pets.

Going through a rescue organization is an awesome idea!! Those dogs need great homes after their racing days are over .. and I don't think many people even know such organizations exist.

They make wonderful calm pets. I have cousins that have 2 ex racers. If I could have dogs (sons allergic) I would definitely take one or two. They are rather large, but very quiet. They need a fenced yard to run or a place you can take them to run....and run they can. They are nicknamed 40 mph couch potatoes. You will have to get them coats and either pay to have them neutered or have them done yourself depending on the adopting agency policy. Good luck let us know what you decide.

Someone in my old neighborhood hd 2 ex-racers....they are quite timid and very shy. If they become afraid...they will run!

Greyhounds are great dogs. They are couch potatoes and love to hang out with their humans. Only one thing. I would not recommend anyone that has a cat or small animal to get a greyhound.

Thanx for the info. we didn't even get a dofg yet and my DH bid on a water and food dish on ebay already. We're planning on going through the LI greyhound rescue org.
