I'm looking for a general timeline of events for the reception...I'm sure my catering hall has one but I'd like to be educated on what is the appropriate time for the first dance, father/bride dance, cutting of the cake, tossing of the garter/bouquet, etc.
If anyone has a timeline they can share I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't think i've seen a time line for the reception.... but, i think its generally in the same order anywhere. my rh has their set times though for each meal and i think the dj or band would have their recommendations of when to do what.

you should talk to your RH about one, every hall varies a little bit of how they lay out the night.....start with their layout, and tweak it from there to suit your prefrences. its really all based around how long it takes to prepare the different courses.

All RHs are different, I let them and my planner do that. Making sure the reception went my way was the last thing on my mind, they came and got me when it was time for dinner, dances, cake cutting etc. I wouldnt stress yourself out over it unless you are doing something special and want it during a specific time.

this is one thing u actually DONT have to worry about lol...so don't! Your DJ & matre d take care of EVERYTHING.. it's amazing how u dont have to lift a finger! u just sit back & enjoy EVERYTHING...
general idea - give or take a few minor changes????
intros first dance appetizer and/or salad toasts(this may go BEFORE ur salads..not sure but the dj takes care of it) dinner orders dancing dinner dancing mother/son dance father/daughter dance dancing bo-k toss garter toss dancing cakecutting dessert
