YES!!! I used to see a therapist for depression and anxiety..

I loved him...he works out of his home in Melville.
He also teaches doctorate level courses at St. Johns and Hofstra- has a law degree and a Psy D. and is super nice and down to earth.

His name is Dr. George Guiliani.

I'll have to see if I can find his number for you....but I'm sure you can find him online.

FM me with any questions!

ETA: I saw him when I was in my late teens and early 20s..not sure if he does adults, but I'm sure he could reccommend someone if he doesn't. I found this by googling his name:

George Guiliani

Berent Associates… J. Berent specializes in anxiety. I work with Dr. Nina Goldman and she’s awesome. It may be too far sadly; their offices are in Great Neck. But they’re worth it!

He was my professor at Hofstra when I did my masters for Special Education and he was amazing.....

I used to see Dr. Joanna Posner, but I dont know if she is still in practice I think her office moved but she was wonderful!!

I would just recommend a Psychologist and not a social worker, just because a psychologist has more training in therapy.

Not that social workers aren't good but i know FH who is a psychologist always says that they dont have as much therapy training as psych's do.

im studying social work.. finishing up my second year... and i too want to say from my experience now... i do agree...

im training more in whole systems, not so much in specific individual systems... ie how to manage stress anxiety in an entire picture with your life family, school.. and other things you can not control.... your fh woudl be more trained in psychotherapy/ analysis and be able to work more on the person and where they came from and long term work where i woudl focus more on teh here and now.. and where they will be... not omitting the past but not focusing on that.

i hopd that may help explain the difference from my opinion....

i always went to a psychotherapist.

Re: anyone have a therapist that..

I just got over a major bout of serious anxiety. I never went to a therapist before for it untill a few months ago. He is great and totally helped me. I am happy to say I had my last session last night. He is the best.

His name is James Levering, he has an office in Rockville Centre and Roslyn. I know he takes most insurances too. Try him out, it is worth at least that. If you want any more info, feel free to FM me. Hope you are feeling better soon.

When I was going to him he was teaching at St. Johns, I heard later that he was teaching at Hofstra, so I'm not sure how long he's been there.

ETA: He may also only be teaching spec. ed classes cause I know thats a specialty of his.

At APEX counseling Bill does great work with anxiety. He does something called Thought Field Therapy and it works instantly and he teaches you how to do it at home so you can use it when needed. He is great. You can look him up on his website at Apexcounseling.com (516) 783 8358. He is located in Bellmore
