Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

My hairdresser told me to eliminate it for a trial, that it is too loose of a style and it will never stay.

Re: Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

No, nothing to do with texture, just that the curls are just looped onto your scalp and they are very loose, to get that 'look' of this picture, it would never stay for longer than a few hours.

Re: Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

that's possible... its gorgeous but you want to go for practical too. If you aren't comfortable dancing in it, bending over etc.... it might not be the style for you...comes apart during the ceremony or reception and no one is allowed to fix... I would bring pic to your trial and get a professional opinion on how to have a similar look and how it can be changed a little so that it can work.

Re: Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

You may want to hunt down the bride in this photo and ask her directly. Chance are that if you post this on ultimate wedding and wedding channel's message boards - the girls will be able to tell you who the bride was.

Re: Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

Also - I find that when a hairdresser doesnt know how to do something, they say its impractical fora variety of reasons. If you cant find the bride - take this photo to a few of the top bridal hairstylists and see what they say. Anything is possible if you have the right tools.

Re: Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

I brought that picture to my trial, and here are some photos of the actual day... (None professional unfortunately, but it will give you an idea)... This was during my first dance, which was about 6 hours after the hair was put up. One strand did come loose, but it goes with the style -- even the model above has a loose strand...

Edited to say: My hair is very thick, and was a few inches past my shoulders the day of the wedding. (Longer at my trial though) I think it helps to go to someone who specializes in formal styles. I used Melissa (631) 951-9080 who came to my parents home, who I would definately recommend.

Re: Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

I don't believe that for a second, I had that same hairstyle and it lasted ALL DAY, I am not joking. I got it done at 8 am and my hair was still up at 11:30 that night, I should scan the pic of it at night because my hairdresser did a great job. I should add that my hair is pretty fine and thin, she curled each piece and pinned it up and it looked great, I had a lot of hairspray though.

This isn't the greatest of picture though.

Re: Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

I agree with sonicstef, anything is possible with the right tools. My hairdresser is amazing. I had a formal affair about 2 years ago and i did this all curly thing for my hair and it had a bunch of loose curls and my hair dresser made sure my hair wasnt going anywhere. She did an amazing job. My hair looked great, and it stayed the whole night. I even fell asleep with the hair in place and when i woke up the next day it was still perfect. With the right hairdresser and the right tools they can make anything possible

I love that hairstyle!!! How long do you think your hair has to be to pull it off? I'm trying to grow mine out so I can go with a style like that. It is beautiful!!

Re: Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

I wore a cathedral length veil on top of my hair. I wish I had a scanner to show you proofs. Heres another photo taken by a guest that shows the veil...

Re: Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

Wow, now I wonder what I should do - I don't want to spend 100's of dollars on different trials. Those hairstyles are very similar and look great!

Re: Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

bride04 - I would think that if your hair is about two inches below your shoulders, not layered, you would be fine. Play with your hair in front of a mirror, you just need there to be enough length to make a circle and press it against your head. Of course the more hair you have the more volume the style would have. It took about 90 pins in my hair, but my hair is very thick and was a bit longer then that.

Re: Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

Thanks Valenia! Good thing I still have a lot of time. It's my d@mn layers that are the problem!

BTW your hair looked gorgeous! The hair pins gave it such a nice touch!

Re: Anyone have a trial on this type of hairstyle?

If you really have your heart set on that style, definitely try it out. Get your trial as early in the AM as possible, and go about regular things that day - dance around the room, run around like a maniac. See if it stays!!!

Good Luck!!!!!

I love this hairstyle and it looks great on the other brides also. Maybe the problem is your hairstylist?
