I couldn't figure out if this is a pet topic or a furniture topic, so I'll ask it here.
Does anyone have cats and leather furniture? If so, did they ruin it? We are looking into leather furniture but we have two cats and we don't know if they will rip it. I have heard they don't like leather because they can't get their claws into it and they usually like loopy textures. Is this true?
What are the experiences out there?

Re: Anyone have cats and leather furniture?
I could not believe when I saw your topic. A big old YES over here.... When my fh and I moved in together almost 2 years ago, we decided to get rid of each of our individual things and start over with a lot of our furniture. We bought a leather couch and a leather loveseat, which we figured with 2 cats in a NYC apartment would mean less cat hair (as had happened with the fabric couch). At first, they were totally fine. Then we went away for a long weekend, came back and there were about 300+ little punctures in the arm of our loveseat.
Fh was NONE too pleased. They really seem to only do this if we leave for any extended period of time, so now we cover the arms and honestly, it's been fine.
sorry, this was really long....you struck a cord. I know all animals are different. In the end, I think they leave these alone a lot more than our previous fabric couches, but I've decided where cats and furniture are concerned, we'll never win

Thank you!! I know what you mean about not winning with them. It is so true.
Our current problem is that we have a couch and loveseat we got when we moved in in August but the frames were defective and we have been given credit to go pick out new stuff. Sadly there is nothing new that we like. DH HATES microfiber because he says it makes him sweat too much and the stuff that isn't microfiber either doesn't go in our living room (too formal, wrong style) or it is leather.
