Re: anyone has forced air heat?
I have it in my house and i like it. It can be a little dry. You can stick a humidifier in the system to cut the dryness. However it heats up the house so quickly (we also have a new heating system). We only keep the thermostat on 68 and it is more than comfortable. If we put it on 70 degrees it gets too hot. We really save on our bill.

I had an apt with forced air and didn't love it. I found that when the heat is on, it would heat up too hot, and then it would go off, and you'd be cold until it came back on.
Its not a constant heat like baseboard is. We actually looked into converting forced air to baseboard when we were interested in a house that had it. It can be done but its $$.
Definitely try it for the winter, and see how it goes. If you can change the 'cycle' to go on and off more regularly and that should help keep a constant temp better.

Definitely get a humidifier too, it was very dry in my parents' house before they put the humidifier in... a little harder to breathe in the winter, and our skin was dry.
Much better now!

Re: anyone have forced air heat?
One of the benefits of forced air heat is that it is an instant warmth....as soon as you turn it on you feel it.
We added a humidifier to ours and it definitely helps with the dryness. It also helps keep the house warm when the heat shuts off.

Another benefit is with forced air heat it is really easy to have central air

Re: anyone have forced air heat?
I thought that it would be really easy to get central air b/c all the duct work it there but it is not. The problem is the vents for the heating are low b/c hot air rises. The vents for the A/C need to be up on the ceiling so the cold air can go down and around. If the vents are too low the cold air shoots out and gets sucked back in and all the hot air stills stays in the air.
I was very upset b/c the air conditioning people told me that they could do it but the upstairs wouldn't cool off enough. VERY FRUSTRATING!!!!!

Re: anyone have forced air heat?
I hate it We have it and it gets sooo dry my FH sinuses get so bad in the winter. Even the humidifier in the system doesn't really work that well you are sometimes better getting another free standing one... The heat does come on fast nice and hot really hot but then it goes off and it gets cold again... Just like the other people said..
It cost a lot of money to change over though... So we are stuck with it
