There is also the 3 day for the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
I believe I am going to crew this as my friend's and family are walking.

one of my co-workers did the avon walk last year, but unfortunately part of it got rained out . i know the one weird thing about the Avon walk she told me - when you commit to it, you commit yourself to raise a certain amount of money (i think it was something like $1,500 last year). if you can not find enough people to sponsor you, you are responsible for the difference. just something to keep in mind if you commit to this, especially if you are shy about asking people for money!! she was lucky in that our firm gave her a sizable donation - she said it was a great experience, but the $$ part was a little nerve-racking.

The Susan G. Komen one you have to raise $2000, but they give you a website which can be sent to all kinds of people (and of course, get posted on boards like this ) so it's not as difficult to raise the money. I am not sure if or how Avon helps you to raise the money. By the way, Good luck if you do decide to do it!

I really wanted to do the walk to give my support, but I think it's a little unfair that you are required to raise such a large amount of money. I think if they accepted smaller donations, MORE people would walk and they'd get more money anyway...

I feel sort of the same. But, being involved in it right now, I sort of understand how much it costs to set this up. They need to get a minimum amount from walkers just to raise money. Otherwise you would have 2000 walkers only raising $500 per(maybe), whereas they guarantee $2000 and they will make a lot more. I am not sure how many more people would be willing to walk 60 miles in three days...that's a lot of walking and training. My friend is working so hard to be ready for this and she has to walk for like 5 hours on the weekends so she is ready.
