I really can't stand my fiances side questioning everything we do. My family is no better than his but at least they are supportive. They say it's great that finally after 10 years we are getting married. His side is all about how are you going to pay for it? What are you going to do for this and for that....etc. Can't they just be happy. We aren't going for break the bank with this wedding. We have been together for so long and have a 3 year old son. We want to be a complete family. I am ready to explode at all of them. Anyone going through anything like this that can relate? It is so sad that they are like this. I try to be happy but they just always try to bring us down. Ahhhh I am so mad. What could I do to end this? Thanks for listening to me vent!

Try to let them in on as little info as possible. I too am so sick of people giving their opinions on stuff and questioning things. It hasn't been so much for our families but people I hardly know! Hang in there. Big hugs to you!!

Thanks ladies. It just gets so frustrating. You try to be excited about your plans and then you get people bursting your bubble. My fiance has accepted his family acting like this. I told him it is unacceptable and he shouldn't be treated that way. He/we are better than all of them put together. If they were truly happy people themselves they wouldn't have to pick on us. Next time I am going to tell them thanks for the concern but we have it covered. Polite and too the point. If that doesn't work then I am going to explode. That will get there attention!

The funny thing is, I look at their wedding pictures & it didn't impress me, so of course they would not understand what I am doing, we have different taste. So now, everytime we get a 'why did(n't) you....' I say, wow, those organza scarlett o'hara dresses and hats you made your BM wear are sooo much better (or something like that!) It stops the questions every time

Heh.. some have tried.. I just have this look like 'Where's the money?' Since I'm paying for this all my own.. I leave very little room for questions.. If I wanted an opinion I'll ask.. Otherwise it's 'This is the BM dress, these are the colors and this is the cost of the DJ.'
Most of my family let me get my way, it's the second time I've started setting up for a wedding. I've gotten further this time! I broke off my first engagement years ago.

'why aren't you walking down to 'here comes the bride? everyone does that!!' (maybe thats why I DON'T want to use it!!!)
'why aren't you inviting so and so' (cuz i met them once in my life and didn't say one word to them...)
'are you sure you don't want black bridesmaid dresses?' (my wedding is a SPRING DAY wedding... why would i want black???)
and on and on and on..... i've learned to grit my teeth, close my eyes, and think of a happy place!!!

HEHE LMAO tracy... I love the whole Here comes the bride question...... I just tell people it was because Wagner was a Nazi....that usually shuts them up The best one I got is.... what about the 'Chicken Dance' & 'the bride cuts the cake' .... um, because it is not for me, soryy.... you gt married again & have all that cr@p if you like it!

That is too much. my side has been pretty good, my aunt was not entirely convinced that I would go to grad school if I was married (i dunno why, but that's what she thought) so once I convinced her the questions stopped. His side however runs around with a 'how to annoy the bride' checklist
hmmm, maybe we should revisit WithThisRing's rules about how to not p*ss off the bride.

hearsbellz, my family has not been told that those songs arent being played,i know they want to hear them but tough.... i now try not to tell my mother anything, and tell her that she's only paying for the reception, so not to be concerned with the cost of anything else. his dads side is supportive of everything im doing with the wedding and moms side doenst ask anything about the wedding so i guess i dont have that problem
