Anyone have suggestions for where to buy Mom/FMIL Dresses?

My mom and my FMIL went looking tonight for their dresses. My mom is super picky. (she thinks anything with beading is too flashy ) So my mom is driving me nuts. FMIL is looking for something in price range up to 300 most.

Anyone have any ideas?? Looking for any suggestions in Suffolk

EEk! Good Luck! I know Bridal Reflections had some nice MOB/G dresses. I think Jovani was the designer. Maybe you should try a department store to get an idea of styles and where you can try on alot of dresses at one time? you can always go to estelles on 110 too to just try on different styles. let me know how it works out!!! soon, it will be my moms turn!

Try Macy's....my mom got her's in Macy's in Smithhaven mall. It's not too flashy (she hates that also). I think it was like $200. Good luck.

I know a lot of people who have gotten theres in Lord and Taylors.
When I was looking for my dress I also noticed that Bridal Suite in Patchogue had a good selection (but I dont know how 'flashy' they were b/c I didnt look at them)

My mother got hers at Lord & Taylors - it was beautiful, not 'flashy' and not expensive.

i would suggest macy's. that is where my fmil and i are going to look for hers. my mom is getting hers from paradise bridal, where i got my gown. my fmil is not into flashy either and she is a very petite japanese woman, so i think a department store is our best bet. good luck to you.

Re: Anyone have suggestions for where to buy Mom/FMIL Dresses?

My son is getting married July 04 and my daughter is October 04. With 2 weddings within 3 months of eachother and totally different seasons, I figured this would be a challange. We went to Estelles and I wasn't to thrilled, nothing jumped at me, other than the prices. Then we headed for The Wedding Center in Commack. And there is where I found both my gowns.

For my July wedding, I choose a very soft, flowing, pastel very suitable for an outdoor wedding, price $240. My October wedding, is very elegant, very formal, and very stylish for a Mom, and that is priced at $350. This gown was the first one my daughter and I choose, and the last one to try on. Its perfect!

I was very satisfied with the service at the center. They catered to me, and gave their opnions on what I was trying on and there was only one saleswoman with me. FYI, her name is Helene.

Good Luck Moms, its not easy to find 'the perfect gown/dress'

Try Sugarplum in lynbrook or Dinas in Plainview...my mom and I are going there next weekend...but both got high recommendations.

Try Bloomingdales, and Kleinfeld (though I don't know Kleinfeld's prices for those).

My mom recently bought hers at macy's in smithhaven, they had a not too large, but nice assortment and she wanted no beading also and found a gorgeous dress that has no beading.

The Wedding Center of Commack has really nice dresses at reasonable prices, but I would take the dress elsewhere for alterations.

There is a store on Northern Blvd. in Great Neck across the street from Leonards Catering Hall. It caters to moms.
