We're starting in 3 weeks!! LIJ is where we'll deliver our bundle...
Just curious how the classes were - did you get anything out of them?? Will DH be able to stay awake!?

Re: Anyone have their Lamaze classes at LIJ?
Hi Kathi! I'm also going to be having the baby at LIJ, so let me know how you liked it, etc. How many classes are there?
I cannot believe how fast your pregnancy is going!!! How are you feeling?

Lamaze is a waste of money ! (Just my opinio) I was my sisters coach once when her husband couldnt make it, and Im glad I went, because it saved me $150 from going when I was prego..
When youre in labor, all that stuff goes right out the window...
And the nurses at the hospital should be well equipped to show you how to relax and breathe, well that is, if you dont throw something at them or scream at them !

I think you do need some type of class to prepare you- doesn't have to be Lamaze. Some hospitals will not allow your Dh in the room with you during a c-section without taking a birthing class. You need to understand what is happening to you at the different stages of labor- IMO. I am only a few weeks pg and I already know that going in totally cold would be much more scary to me. I need to be able to know what is happening to my body and the terms that are being used by the medical staff.

Michele, most (if not all) hospitals will allow only your husband to come in for a c-section, and the last thing they asked for (when I needed a c-section towards the end) was some certification from a birthing class from DH, lol. Ive never heard of that. The nurses are great about explaining whats going on, and from being drugged up, half the time, I had no clue what stage I was in, and what was going on, all I felt was the excruciating pain...no textbook or class can prepare you for that Its great to take prep classes that are offered (free of charge) by the hospital and OB offices, I took several. but I just felt that spending that much money on teaching me how to breathe...didnt find it necessary for myself...and I sure wouldnt have used it, its something so unpredictable...
good luck to you all in whatever you choose

I'm kinda looking forward to the Lamaze classes - don't know why!! I do agree that *some* childbirth prep is necessary, whether it helps during labor, or not!! BTW, LIJ allows DH to be in the DR if I have to have a C. He'll cringe, but he'll hafta deal!!
Debbie: I'm feeling really good!! Peanut is having what I believe is a growth spurt over the past few days - taking over my entire stomach and abdomen and working his/her way up to my ribcage! It's such an awesome feeling - just wait!!
