I'm definately having a father/daughter dance and my fh is having a mother/son dance which leaves my mom (his dad is deceased) as the only one w/out a dance. I feel bad and want to incorporate a mother/daughter dance, anyone else done this?

Re: Anyone having a mother/daughter dance?
I am not doing this, but one of my best friends did this at her wedding. Her dad was deceased. Her mom gave her away and they danced to that song by Barry Manillow (I think it is called 'My Child'). It was very sweet.

I did. I danced with my dad, DH danced with his mom then I danced with my mom and he danced with his godmother. We both wanted to honor the special women in our lives.

If you want to make it special for your mom- instead of dancing with her- you could dedicate a song to her and also instead of tossing your boquet you could give it to her and make a little speech. I really wamt to make my father/dtr dance special and I also want to dance with my grandfather so this is the way I am planning on honoring my mom.

Re: Anyone having a mother/daughter dance?
My father passed away last year so mom is walking me down the isle..
Not going to a mother/daughter dance. I was at one wedding where it was done, it was touching but the song could have been a little better chosen. They chose Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd; the MOB was just out of rehab for a drug problem.
....No, I couldn't make this up if I tried.

I'm sorry, but that is funny.
I am in the same boat. My mom is walking me down the aisle as my dad passed on, but in Jewish tradition both parents want you down the aisle anyway. We are not doing any parent dances. FH;s family is not American adn this is not a tradition she is familiar with.

I am thinking of doing it -- I think she would really love the gesture (even though she will probably cry her eyes out during the dance!)

I am. My father's not around so my mom's walking me down the aisle and I'll do the dance with her.

My mom and I danced to I Am Your Child by Barry Manilow. There wasn't a dry eye in the house.
Good luck, Donna 10/5/03

Re: Anyone having a mother/daughter dance?
my father passed on and so did my grandfather recently, so my mom is going to walk me down the isle. I don't think we are going to do any parent dances, but rather dedicate a song to our moms and some a little something special for them!!
