That's great to hear! If people don't want to come then they can just check no on the response card.. We gave everyone enough time (a year plus) to know that the wedding would be on a Thursday so they can make plans to take off if they want. Otherwise the wedding is over at 1130pm so people can still make it to work if they have to. Most of our friends and family are teachers or are self employed so it didn't matter to them. Everyone else said they would rather go to a Thursday night wedding than a Sunday night wedding. It gave them an excuse for a long weekend in July. The people that mean the most to you will be there so don't worry. Plus we really didn't want to worry about snow/rain during the winter/spring months that could make it difficult for out of towners to travel to us. We now get the best of both worlds, outdoor cocktail hour, beautiful setting and we saved money, can't beat that.

Ours is over at 11pm. Half of our guests are going to be from out of town so whoever wants to come up to NY can come Wednesday Night and make the weekend out of it. We are sending a packet of 'things to do on LI' with our STD's so everyone can plan accordindly

Re: Anyone Having a Thursday Wedding?

So I have a question..We made our CH @ 6 & then the Reception is 7-11..is this a good time or should I do CH @7 Rec 8-12? I just figured if people didn't take off Friday they are still getting home a little earlier. But for those leaving early or on Thursday is the CH too early to make it to at 6? What do you guys think? TIA!!

Re: Anyone Having a Thursday Wedding?

I think its fine to have to CH at 6pm, most people would love to leave work on a Thursday by 12-2pm and then know they have off til Monday. Our reception starts at 6:30 and if we do the ceremony at RH it will call for 5:30pm. People will be there, don't worry. I was thinking about that too the other day but i realized that FH is NOT a night owl so having the party over at 11:30 would be best. We wouldn't get to hotel til after midnight and I still want time alone...( if ya know what I mean) before he passes out. The earlier the better!!!!

Re: Anyone Having a Thursday Wedding?

Our schedule is:

Ceremony @ Church - 4pm
CH @ RH - 6pm
Reception- 7pm - 11pm

I timed mine like this because I wanted to take pics after the church while the sun was going down. I think both of your times are good too . People can leave work at like 2pm if they are coming to the church...if they are only coming to the RH they can leave work at like 4 or 5pm and make it to the reception by 7. It's done early enough for everyone to go home at a decent hour. If someone needs alot of sleep, they can stay until like 10pm and still have attended the majority of the reception
