Anyone having a wedding for 5000 or less?

If so, what are you doing exactly? Any tips?

Hey girl...good to see you on!

I typed a super long response in one of your previous threads about my sister's wedding. She had it under $5K and it was one of the best weddings I have been to.

Good luck.

HeY Sasha, I remember your post.
You know I may bother you soon.
Hope all is well with you.

You can do it at a restaurant, with about 50 people...just close family and friends for less than $5,000.

You don't have to mention it's a wedding - just use the word 'event.'

Just wanted to say that Belle Verde is owned by the same owners of Papa Joe's in Deer Park (or Bayshore) and the food is AMAZING!

Re: Anyone having a wedding for 5000 or less?

I didn't have my wedding for $5K, but I spent only a couple of thousand more.

We had our reception at a restaurant, and instead of doing a dinner, we had a breakfast brunch on a Sunday--that saved us a lot of $$. Look at having it on an 'off' day -- Sunday, Friday or Thursday night. I made the invitations, placecards, programs etc. myself. Recruit talented friends to help out (we hired a friend to take the photos, DH's band played at the reception). My mom did my hair (which came out great!) and I did my own makeup.

You really need to be creative in looking for ways to cut costs, but it can be done. Good luck!

$5000 my budget is exactly that much. Here a few things I learned from the internet and other brides. First thing, be flexable. Have your wedding any day of the week except, Saturday. I'm having a dinner but breakfast and lunch weddings are far less expensive. Also instead of a top shelf bar, we are offering only wine and beer. Also we aren't serving fish. My Fh hates it and its really a lot of money. Also be creative with decorations. For example because I'm having an autumn wedding before halloween, this yr after the holiday is over I'm buying every kind of autumnish color decoration I can find on sale. That way I can decorate my tables, hall, ceremony site etc... for very little. Instead of doing one type of cp, I'm going to have different cp made up differently. Some will be of fruit, some of flowers, some of candles, whatever I can find. That way a lot of them will be cheaper. Also I'm also using potted mums as cp for some tables and also decorations. You'll be surpised how much $$$ you save on that. I can go on and on. I'm having my cake and flowers done by King Kullans. Their cakes are beautiful and very tasty, also extremely affordable. Their flowers are lovely and also afordable (my bok is less than $40.) Oh and whats a lovely cp and are very cheap, go to sams club and buy loss roses there and just throw the in vases. Lots of money saved there. FM if you need more tips.

You can also try a VFW, or a yatch club
My cousin used the freeport yatch club in 04 memorial day weekend, and she didn't even spend $2,000. She used a family friend to cater, and she did her own favors and decor. It was the best wedding I have ever gone to b/c it was simple, and not too fancy. Sometime when things are too perfect, and fancy your guest don't enjoy themselves b/c they're too scared to move

Re: Anyone having a wedding for 5000 or less?

I think I too have answered you before on this subject. We weren't much more than $5k. That was the figure I was initially shooting for. We were definitely under $10k. It can definitely be done. We skipped limos. We booked a very reasonable hall. And I used a local florist for bo-ks, rather than a 'wedding florist'. To begin with you can save alot of money since you are having a vow renewal and not a wedding. Keep that in mind first and foremost. Avoid using the word wedding and you'll save hundreds if not thousands. We booked an 'anniversary Party' and later told vendors we were renewing our vows for our anniversary. I did the CPs myself which saved alot. And we did the rehearsal at our house. We printed our own invitations, programs, favors. I did my own make-up, but I did splurge on photography, dress and hair. Feel free to check my review for more details or FM. Good luck

Thinking back to the expenses of our wedding, it would have been nice to not spend so much money, we did try to keep things to a budget, but you can definitely have something nice for $5000. Definitely reserve a nice restaurant and decorate it beautifully, you would have to shop for your own decorations and stick to simple centerpieces-maybe even make them yourself, you can make your own background music on a CD and then the restaurant can play it through dinner, you don't have to do the DJ dancing thing, just have a dinner that is beautifully decorated. You can get a photo for a few hours rather than the standard all day 10 hour wedding photo package. You can even skip the video because at CVS they have these really great disposable video camera's, they are so easy and cute - all white on the ouside and when you develop them they develop straight to a DVD, you can have guests film for you. The only thing is they are 20 minutes only, so you would have to have different guests or family filming at different times or get a bunch of them. You can go onto ebay and look up wedding items that other people won't use again after their own wedding. You can make your own menus, invites and thank you's by going to a craft store such as Michaels and getting the paper products.

A restaurant is the best way to go.

i'm having mine in FMIL backyard and renting tent chair, table, dance floor. I found a good reasonable DJ, and I'm doing the invitations myself. You could get a pattern at Micheal art and craft store if you wanted. :) hope something helps there.

Ebay helps a lot too. I got my veil and cake topper on there. I saved so much money.

Re: Anyone having a wedding for 5000 or less?

someone posted an ad from craig's list today -- a photographer. price was really reasonable and i think there was a link to look at some of his/her work. look into things like that -- vendors who aren't necessarily in the wedding biz.

make your own cps -- floral cps are expensive. you can save so much by making your own and you could fit virtually any theme. get ideas online -- this site and on hgtv, martha stewart type sites.

I know a restaurant where you can have more people (like 100) and pay less. I keep playing phone tag w/ LIW otherwise my restaurant would be an official vendor(I can't wait, I was so bummed after my appointment @Milleridge (rude BM) I forgot to call back) I hope to meet with them next monday so maybe I can let you know which restaurant next week.
