Anyone hear of this; depost and gratuity for hair/make-up?
My limo company and Thomas Knoell recommended me to a salon that I visited on Sat. When meeting with the Make-up artist, she informed me that I would need to leave a deposit for all of the services plus 20% gratuity, which would be $1200!
I told her NO ONE has asked me to do this at other locations I have interviewed, she explained it was policy and she would talk to the owner and get back to me?
HELP

The deposit with gratuity is 1200? How much does it cost do get your make-up done? Is that for your whole party? Thats a lot! Tip is called a tip because you decide on the amount depending on the services you receive. I hear that some people will make you leave like a small deposit like $50. Thats crazy!

I could understand a small deposit to hold the date but who gives a tip before services are rendered. That part is strange and would make me walk away.

depending on how many services you need to get done, the price could be fine (if you have 12 services or more) I think a deposit is normal, but that looks like the whole amount and the gratuity should be up to you, not in the price.

Run fast! Usually they require a deposit but not the whole thing plus tip. Keep looking.....

Thanks ladies! I have a total of 10 girls that need services. They want to charge $100 per service (may-up/air brush & hair). Then they want to add 20% gratuity to all of that. I agree on a small deposit to hold the date and services but to pay for half of the services; I don't think so! I found another amazing stylist to do our hair, who is traveling to my house and is only charging Me-$100 Mother~50.00 Mother in law~50.00 MOH's~65.00 BM x 2~75.00 2 Jr BM~50.00
I liked the chick I spoke to for make-up and think I will go for a trial, since its free and invertible another maye-up person and make a decision. Anyone hear of Mia Farah Boutique?

That sounds more reasonable! Her trials are free? Good luck!

IDK...that sounds kind of outrageous to me. I'd call around to some other places first.

I had to leave a deposit for my make up and hair just to hold the date. But the deposit goes towards what I owe the day of my wedding and it was only for me not whole bridal party. HTH!

These prices seem reasonable. Is this the same person who quoted you $1200? Do not tip up front. Who does that?!
