Anyone heard of Mayfair Farms in NJ?

Its a reception hall in West Orange, NJ. A friend is considering signing the contract for it tomorrow and asked me to ask you girls if you know anything about it. Thanks!!!!

We visited it and weren't impressed by the way it looked. But I am assuming your friend already saw it, and according to some of the reviews I have heard 2nd hand, the place is nice. It just wasn't our style (a bit dated IMO)

We went to a wedding there last month and my FI and myself weren't to impressed either. We didn't feel there was enough food for everyone durning cocktail. Not everyone had a seat (they had 265 people). Dinner was good but kinda looked like they just threw the food on the plate and the protion seemed to be small, the salamon was anyway. Vienesse seemed to be small, I think they had about 10 cakes and they would serve a sliver to each guest. The wedding cake was sooo good. It was so fresh and the room itself was nice. It isn't my style but I still liked it. The bathroom was really clean ( I always look at the that, I don't know why). It looked like guests were having a good time amongst themselves overall, which is important.

My cousin is getting married there Labor Day weekend. Him and his FI like the facilites and thought it was well worth the price they are paying. He shouldn't have a problem with size since his wedding is approx. 150p.

I went to a wedding there in April of 2002 and loved it!! Overall, it was great.

The cocktail hour room I did not like - people were spread out in different rooms and one of them was kind of like the entryway/hallway. And, the food here was so/so.

The main room they were in (there are several and I don't know the name of the one we were in) was huge. There were windows everywhere that looked out at the gardens. The food was Excellent. For dinner, rather than a choice, everyone got fish and steak. My FH and I traded so I ate all the fish (which I think was chilean sea bass) and he had the steak (prime rib or chateau briande - I don't remember). Then for dessert, everyone got served to them individualy a piece of cake, chocolate covered strawberries and other pastries.

The service was great!! My FH asked the bartender for something he didn't have, he left the room and came back with it 5 minutes later and walked over to us on the dancefloor with the drink! We were impressed!

I've been to a wedding there and it was lovely! The food was great and the service was terrific. As far as what some people said about the style, it is very ornate - sort of like a 1940's feel to it, which I think is very cool. All a matter of style I guess. The other thing you have to remember is that when people say there wasn't enough food or the room was too small, sometimes that kind of stuff is die to the couple's budget - they didn't order enough food or took the less expensive room. I would never blame a place for those sorts of things.
