Re: Anyone here?

I hope to! (This is my first post...!) We're recently engaged and always wanted destination but now we can't decide where. Where are you thinking? I have a lot of friends/family that did LI and I really want something a lil different and smaller.

Re: Anyone here?

Let me just say that it's the BEST thing we did. Just got back from our destination wedding at the Atlantis in the Bahamas. It was just amazing and everyone that went (about 50 people) all raved about it and said how much fun it was and great it was.

Re: Anyone here?

I just got engaged on August 28th in Puerto Rico. I am originally from Puerto Rico and we visit there every year, but we usually stay at a hotel and just enjoy the beach. My 'honey' had never been in PR until I took him two years ago.

He actually proposed in my town inPuerto Rico, right in front of the church I used to go to every Sunday, when I was a kid.

He wants the weddin in Puerto Rico, but we are trying to decide between the beach or the rain forest. I requested information from three places yesterday, but I am still waiting for replies. I\

Is anybody else planning to have their wedding in PR? I have been doing a lot of research and I am pretty sure where I want my wedding to be at.

Re: Anyone here?

We were married in Bermuda. We took a cruise with 34 people and got married on a cliff overlooking the ocean. We had 2 receptions when we got back one for each family (NY and Nebraska) hence the reason for the cruise. The only thing we were not happy with was the photography. The wedding planner said that he worked with a professional - they were the same pictures we developed off of our kodak DISPOSABLE cameras! Thank goodness we had amazing photographers at the receptions! Aslo I recomend getting a second dress, I got married in a huge gown, and then changed into a sexy dress with a slit up one leg. We danced on the beach all night long! The second dress was less than $300 and was totally worth it. (He liked it better than the gown!) We also had those really big cookies decorated in our colors to hand to the guests on the beach because the cake would have melted and attracted bugs. That was a really bit hit, especially with the kids. Aslo much less sticky, no forks or plates needed. I would recomend Bermuda but not the wedding planner we used (for other small reasons other than the photos that added up to a lot). We used Bridal Suite Bermuda, our wedding was beautiful but not because of his help. Hope this helps.

Hi! I'm also looking into having a wedding in Puerto Rico. I am looking closely into the Ritz Carlton. Which resorts did you look into?

Re: Anyone here?

I'm looking into the Ritz Carlton in Jamaica. me and FH have been to Jamaica twice on vacation and we just love it there. So instead of spending a gazillion dollars on a typical LI wedding. I think DW is the way to go.

Re: Anyone here?

I am definitally looking into having a destination wedding in Hawaii, but I have no idea how to go about planning it from home. Also does anyone know how your suppose to go about paying for everything? Are you suppose to pay for eveyones plane tickets and rooms or just for the wedding itself? isnt that alot to expect everyone to pay for?

Re: Anyone here?

The thing about DW is, the people that really want to be there will come. The beauty is you don't have a bunch of people that don't really matter at your wedding and you're shelling out thousands of dollars to feed and entertain them. Hawaii is a bit far, maybe the Carribean would be better since it is more reasonably priced. You have to contact your travel agent and set up travel arrangements and see about getting a group rate so the price is lower for your guests. I think that the custom is you only pay for your bridal party.

Re: Anyone here?

We would LOVE to have a destination wedding, but the wedding needs to be kosher. Does anyone know if this is at all possible?

I don't see why not, just contact the places you are interested in to see if they offer Kosher catering.
