Re: Anyone here have lasix surgery?

one of my BM brothers got it....he used the place in Garden City (can't remember the Dr's name) & it cost him $1200 per eye. He was 20/500 before & is 20/20 now (even 20/15 in some tests) but he was very sore for a few days afterwards, but he said it was worth it. He is NYPD, so he felt it was to his advantage to not wear glasses or contacts.

I used to work for an Opthomologist who was one of the founders of Lasik. He is very good! I even had my father get it done by him. From working in the office, and attending the procedures, I have seen hundreds of patients who have had this done, ALL with great success! This doctor wont do this procedure on people who are not good candidates, while others will do it just for the money.
His name is Dr. Mollick, and is located on Hempstead Tpke in Levittown. I dont remember the # off hand, but I can look it up for you if you are interested.

FH is looking at him I think... the name sounds familiar.... he is trying to see if his insurance will cover part of it, but I don't think it will.

I dont think insurance covers any of it, unfortunatly. But he is worth it. You know you are getting it done right by him, so to me its worth it. Dr. Mollick's office is on 1 Center Lane across from Tri County Flea Market. Let me know if you want any more info

Re: Anyone here have lasix surgery?

Like any procedure (even minor ones), patients must sign an informed consent telling them ALL the possiblities of the procedure. This is just a legal neccessity, but dont get too worried about it. My dad freaked out when he saw it, but the likelyhood of these things happening is not much. Dr. Mollick is very selective of patients, he will not do this procedure on people who are at a high risk for complications. Many people are good candidates for this procedure and there are no problems. There are doctors who will do this on anyone for the money, and that is when bad things may happen. I would not have sent my father to this doctor if I was not 110% sure of his skill and qualifications. Seeing the results from patients myself when they come into the office, I know he does a good job. As soon as I get the money, I am going to have it done as well.

I had it done and LOVE it. Who I used won't help you since they're in CA. But I had it done 2 years ago for $2500.

Re: Anyone here have lasix surgery?

I don't want to scare you but PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THIS BEFORE YOU CONSIDER IT - I'm not telling you not to do it I DO know people who have had it done and have LOVED it - BUT RESEARCH - both my mother and my FH used to work in MED MAL insurance for the dr's and they had a number of cases due to negligence - this is a serious surgery b.c you can lose your sight forever - there are good people out there so that it why it is important to research on go to the best dr out there - you can look them up on NY Dr Profile This is a sight where you can check and see where they went to school where they did their residency, and whether they have been sued etc- it is NOT 100% reliabe - so get a lot of references - I would check out NY magazines best dr's in NY - and call them for references.

Also - one of the issues with many suits is that they many dr's are performing the surgery on patients who are OUT of the range for the surgery. My friend's mother is a dr and is the first to say she would look into it - BUT there are A LOT of dr's who are NOT skilled enough - find out HOW often they do the surgery, for HOW many years, - also do research on the surgery itself - there are a number of articles out there saying that after a few years your sight could be worse than it is now
