Anyone in landscaping here? Ideas re: box used for Debi's wedding favors

I want to ask, concerning the beautiful rectangle box, that my Husband made for Debi's adirondack chair favors, could it be used, outside, on an open patio, to put potted plants in? Would it perhaps have to be sealed like decks, so rain wouldn't rot the wood?? It's a beautiful color, and I think it would be a shame not to use it for something!! Mary MOB

Its lovely, you definitly need to seal it for any kind of plant use!

But I think its too shallow to plant directly in, unless you were doing grass maybe. Then make sure to drill some holes for drainage.

I would actually get a bunch of little terracotta pots and plant something very pink or orange to really take advantage of that gorgeous blue.

Shana, thanks!! Those colors would be beautiful!! Debi is into beachy stuff, so those would be perfect tropical colors!! I want to do this for Deb and Fred's back patio!! Pics below!! How would you go about placing/displaying it, if this was your patio? What about putting it on a wrought iron rectangle table? Dumb idea?? Of course Debi will have the last word, but I thought I'd ask for ideas!!

I would definatley seal it- they have this sealant at home depot for wood (my hubby used it on a deck once) then im sure you can leave it outside., other wise the weather will effect it.

Such a pretty color. Also (after sealing it) she can use it as a mini Feng Shui garden. Put some sand, rocks & a little rake. Brings that beachy feel plus it is calming to play with

Lisa, thank you for your ideas!!! I had thought about sand and even incorporating some of the reception shells and the turquoise glass stones we had left over. What ideas do you have for where it should go on their patio, considering they might later get some patio furniture? Mary MOB

No Prob. I think the placement would depend on what you have going on as patio furniture. She can even place it in the yard itself. Soo many options.

It was definitely be cute to incorporate some of the wedding stuff. IT will be beautiful. The only thing. I know it sounds silly. But do cats get in her backyard? if so you may want to raise it a little bit. You do not want them playing it in..lol

Jody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm loving that idea!!!!!!!!!! Then, it can be inside all year round!!!!!! Now, you're making me think!! But ya know what?? I could get my husband to make another one, for outside, perhaps smaller, to hold plants, with leftover shells, etc., from the wedding!!!!!! I think he still has paint left!! Mary MOB

yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still have a can of glitter spray!!!!!!!!! You know the kind!!!!!!!!!!!!! That gets in peoples' hair????? Oooooo sand!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!Mary MOB
