I just received this message last night......Christine is an EX-girlfriend of my DH whom he dated over 8 years ago (for 3 months) Do you think someone may need to grow up and GET A LIFE!
Hi Danielle, I wanted to write to you to explain why I did not invite you to my wedding. I really wanted to have you there, but then I was reminded of the fact that Christine is in my bridal party and it would make her uncomfortable having you and Neil there. I am so sorry. I am very upset that I cannot have you there. I know you probably won't understand, considering how long ago everything was, but she would still be upset by it. I felt I at least owed you an explanation. I felt that I had to do what would make her comfortable because she is a bridesmaid. Again, I am so sorry. I know that does not make it any better, but I am.
SO SHOULD I WRITE HER BACK...DH SAYS I SHOULDN'T WASTE MY TIME!

Re: Anyone in the mood for some pettiness
dont waste your time...Im almost in the same boat. My DH and I are in a wedding next summer (we introduced my cousin to DH;s and my best friend). They hit it off and are now getting married Back to topic...My husbands ex from about 8 or 10 years ago (i dont even know) will be there because our friend (the groom) is still really good friends with my DHs exes husband (Yes. husband).and hes in the bridal party as well...My DH keeps saying hes not gonna be comfy but I keep telling him to 'grow up and move on', 'you are married to ME now'.. He really hasnt talked about it much lately cuz Im always responding with the same answer..but im sure when the wedding gets closer, im gonna hear it again..and Yep, you guessed it..will have STILL have the same answer!! This Christine girl needs to move on. Its not fair that you have to miss a friends special day cause of immaturity!

Re: Anyone in the mood for some pettiness
Wow, that is just ridiculous. We were in a similar situation. My DH's BEST friend, actually his wife, wasn't going to invite him to his wedding because DH's ex whom he has a child with was a bridesmaid in the wedding and they didn't want to make her uncomfortable. Then His friend stood up to his now wife and said DH and I were definitely invited!! Some people need to just get a life and move on. Your not talking a serious relationship in your situation, they dated for 3 months and it was 8 years ago. I think it is pathetic that the bride is going to let someone else decide her guest list. If I were you, I wouldn't even want to be there.

Re: Anyone in the mood for some pettiness
I am so happy this topic was brought up..speaking of morons, my FH has had the same AIM name forever and he got an AIM last week from his ex-wife's brother in-law who is getting a divorce from my FH's ex-wifes sister and wanted to talk about it. I told FH, hell no. Let the past, stay in the past. I have never met his ex and I hope I never will and I don't want him talking to this guy. There is no need to bring it up..end of story. If I were ever to meet to her at a mutual function, which would never happen but if, I am sure I would be cordial. I can't believe your friend is not inviting you to a wedding because of something that happened years ago.

I would write back:
Hi (Insert Idiot's Name):
I wanted to write back to you to explain why I am glad I am not invited to your wedding. I really thought I wanted to be there, but then you reminded me of the fact that you are as immature as I was afraid you were. I know you probably won't understand, considering you stupid you are, but I'm sure you will be upset by it. I felt I at least owed you an explanation. I felt that I have to do what will make me comfortable because I am more grown up than you are. Again, I am so sorry. I know that does not make it any better, but I am.

Good God.... that is pretty pathetic. I just don't understand people sometimes. Why would someone even go there? Ridiculous.
Your DH is 100% correct.
I usually like to look at things from the 'other' perspective.. but the 'other' perspective here is so way off the mark of anything respectable that decorum prevents me from doing that.
In other words.. never start an argument with an idiot!

Your FH is right - it is better to just let this go, and at least now you know her true colors, and like you said, no need for that wedding present! Treat yourself to a spa day!

Don't bother, just feel content knowing what a good catch you have that an ex from only three months would still have feelings towards him.
