OH wow! So is that what you guys decided to do? Call it off? I am sorry to hear that if that is the case. I would suggest calling all your vendors or reading the fine print in the Contract so you don't get jerked around. Make sure you know what the contract reads before you call. Haha that is the Paralegal in me talking. I hope it all works out for you!

I would suggest you read the contract. Most likely it states that you may lose your deposit. I heard with Burton that if you cancel you still have to pay them 30% of what you owe them. But I do not know if that is true.
Just suggestion what if you asked they vendors if they are willing to let you sign your contract over someone else there plenty of brides that still have not booked some of the vendors you already book. You can get your money back that way?

Re: anyone know about cancelling?
I think there are different laws if your wedding was in Nassau as opposed to Suffolk. There was a thread about this on the '08 board a few months ago. You should definitely post on that board.

I agree...she has some popular vendors...maybe she can post on the BHB or 2010 boards to see if someone will takeover her contracts.

yeah the contract says you owe 10% + 35$ or 30% whichever is greater, which doesnt make sense to me.. wouldnt 30% always be greater? Anyway, another 09er was going to call them and ask, so we will see! i hope not b/c thats crazy

Re: anyone know about cancelling?
My friend cancelled her november wedding last month. She lost a certain amount automatically due to accounting fees and then mostly they gave her credits towards future events unless someone else booked her date. She was having her reception to CLM. Her and ex-FH split the voucher towards a future event there.
Good Luck!!!!!

Shes happy. She has a great attitude that she was better off getting out now then being married and being unhappy. He was not a good guy at all. None of her family liked him and she and I stopped being friends because of it. Now we talk and have hung out.
