Yeah, I think you're right - HBO actaully did a documentary about htem a while ago. They were from a small town and all were Goth kids, right? If not, I might be thinking of something else.

Re: Anyone Know About the Case of 3 Boys...

yeah i think youre right. i think it was called 'Paradise Lost'

i found this:

Shortly after three eight-year-old boys were found mutilated and murdered in West Memphis, Arkansas, local newspapers stated the killers had been caught. The police assured the public that the three teenagers in custody were definitely responsible for these horrible crimes. Evidence?

The same police officers coerced an error-filled “confession” from Jessie Misskelley Jr., who is mentally handicapped. They subjected him to 12 hours of questioning without counsel or parental consent, audio-taping only two fragments totaling 46 minutes. Jessie recanted it that evening, but it was too late— Misskelley, Jason Baldwin and Damien Echols were all arrested on June 3, 1993, and convicted of murder in early 1994.

Although there was no physical evidence, murder weapon, motive, or connection to the victims, the prosecution pathetically resorted to presenting black hair and clothing, heavy metal t-shirts, and Stephen King novels as proof that the boys were sacrificed in a satanic cult ritual. Unfathomably, Echols was sentenced to death, Baldwin received life without parole, and Misskelley got life plus 40.

For over 11 years, The West Memphis Three have been imprisoned for crimes they didn’t commit. Echols waits in solitary confinement for the lethal injection our tax dollars will pay for. They were all condemned by their poverty, incompetent defense, satanic panic and a rush to judgment.

But there’s still hope for them, and you can help.

im definatly gonna go to the discussion tonight. it shuld be interestting.

yes. its tonight at 6:30pm

at
Association of the Bar of the City of New York

New York, NY 10036

Dennis Riordan, Mr. Echols’ present counsel, will discuss new developments in the case, the constitutional issues, the procedural hurdles to obtaining a new trial in federal habeas corpus proceedings, and the DNA testing that may help establish Mr. Echols’ innocence.

Re: Anyone Know About the Case of 3 Boys...

I remembered being so angry as I watched this documentary when it aired. It was frightening to see how these kids were treated and wrongly convicted of crimes they did not commit, when the whole blaming factor was so obviously focused on the town's prejudices towards the '***** worshippers' as they were called. Why? Because they wore black clothes and didn't look like the other kids?!? This whole case made me sick when I heard about it, and to this day, I still can't understand how this could happen... What a great opportunity you have to attend this discussion, let me know how it turns out!

whaaaat?? S a t a n is blocked?!?

I saw that documentary -- Paradise Lost -- a few years ago. I remember that it was very disturbing. The case against the alleged perpetrators was full of holes, and one murdered boy's father (stepfather?) was a very shady character.

The filmmakers also made a follow-up documentary called Paradise Lost: Revelations.

Should be an interesting talk...
