I wanted to start researching some areas to consider buying a house in and was looking at the towns around the Ronkonkoma train station. Does anyone know anything about Holtsville?

We looked at some co-ops by the Holtsville ecology center. The complex itself was nice, but the surrounding area was not so nice IMO...I don't know about the rest of Holtsville though...
ETA: We bought a condo in Ronkonkoma. FM me for info if you are interested.

My sister lives in Holtsville....on Division...North of the Expressway. You should also look at Holbrook. That is where we live and we are about 3 minutes from the train stations,

We actually went to an open house for a condo complex in Holbrook. It was right off Nicholl's road and the complex was beautiful. There were 2 for sale both were 3 br and 2.5 bth. Both had a patio and an upstairs. They were quite large. The asking price was 389,000. They were built in '88. I think it's pretty close to the Ronkonkoma train station. Good luck!

My SIL lives in a gated Community in Holtsville and it is beautiful in there! We looked at some houses in the blocks surrounding it, off North Ocean Ave and I was very very impressed, but it was a little further out then we wanted to go.
Plus since Sachem is dividing back into 2 high schools again, the house in her area will be going to the new high school which is supposed to be absolutely incredible!
