I want to print wedding programs on heavy paper but have no idea how many lbs. I want. Help! Is 65lb enough? I want to be able to tie a ribbon around it without it buckling.

Re: Anyone know anything about paper?
FH owns an office supply company, but he is working late tonight. When he gets home, I can ask him.
He mentioned the paper we are going to use, but I don't remember which one

the lower the number of lbs, the lighter the paper. generally speaking, cardstock is roughly 65 lbs and that isn't too flimsy. anything above that is more sturdy but may not be good going through your printer. but target has cardstock for like 3 bucks, so even if you get it, it still isn't a waste of $ if you don't use it.

My FH told me that while 65lb is a light cardstock, you may be better off with 110lb cardstock due to using the ribbon to tie it. It's less likely to bend. He said 110 will go through most printers.
We made programs and are going to use 24 lb paper which is a heavy paper. The advantage to using the paper is it looks nicer when folded. We will be threading tassles through the top.
Good Luck!

Re: Anyone know anything about paper?
Most home printers will print easily on 80lb but a lot will not work on 110 since it doesnt bend easily. Also, when you fold 110, its gets all creasy unless you score it. And 110 is so stiff that it doesnt lie flat when you fold it and tie it...so a softer paper looks nicer to me. So I would not use such a heavy paper for a program cover since its a lot more work. But just my opinion.
It depends on how many interior pages you have but if you have 2 or more I would say do the cover in 65lb and then the inside pages in a lighter paper.
