Anyone know how long they are supposed to stay with their mother before we can give them to their new owners? Thanks!

it depends on the puppies, but generally speaking it takes about 10-12 weeks to fully wean

Awww..puppies are so cute! Why don't you call the vet and ask? I am sure they will be happy to help (as long as it is not my vet who has a nasty office staff)

I really think it depends on the breed of dog....we got our dog at 8 weeks old.
Try calling North Shore Animal League. I'm sure they could answer your questions.

hey there!
they are actually a mix of terrier/bichon frise..
they are absolutely adorable.. I've become so attached to them.. I know I am going to be heartbroken when they are gone.. I have pics that I took for Tammy to see I have to email them to myself..

Cella - it's 3 months.... try to give them very moist foods along w/their mommy's milk! Helps them to get adjusted to the real world along with still getting the vitamins from mommy!

Puppies can have serious adjustment/behavioral issues if separated from their mother too soon - including an inability to potty train, constant barking, destructive behavior and other displays of separation anxiety are common as well in puppies weaned too early.
Post pics!! Would LOVE to see these little sweethearts!

i wouldn't give them away before 8 weeks, and i would wait longer if you can. i once got a puppy (long unfortunate story) at 6 weeks. the poor thing. She didn't do well (wasn't yet eating enough solid food and i couldn't keep her warm enough), and while she is still alive, she had horrible seizures as a pup and suffered brain damage. So tell your mom to leave them for another month at least!
hooray though. i love puppies. that must be so much fun to have them around!!!
oh yeah, ps - if you have time, try to hold each one each day. kind of like cradling a baby, on its back a little bit. this will help socialize them to people and will make them great pets as they grow up!!
