Having the hardest time. i have been sending out my resumes since January and I am still without a job, I have resorted to now looking for a sub position. It is so discouraging.
Anyone in the same boat as me?

i'm definitely in your boat too ... i hate sending out resumes and not hearing a thing. i had a yearlong leave replacement position last year, but it was eliminated for this coming year. good luck ... i'm told that positions do open up in the summer!

I've been there... jobs on LI are hard to come by...
have you tried looking for a job with NYC? they ALWAYS are in desperate need of teachers and you will get hired no problem. i quite enjoyed teaching in the city... it's not as horrible as people make it out to be. Granted, I left when I got a job on LI because i was sick of the commute, but there are some great schools in the City and great kids that need good teachers....

thanks for the info. i've heard great things about the city too and have several friends who teach there. unfortunately the city won't work for me b/c i live in eastern suffolk. i did the commute one year to new hyde park and it was pretty rough. and i was only a teaching assistant at that time! with a little bit more than a month to go before the year starts, i'm keeping my fingers crossed for something to come up!

Thanks for the advice. I really would teach in the city but I too live in eastern long island and the commute is something i justcant do. My son is entering 4th grade and had a difficult school year last year and will need me this year. I really need to be closer to home for him. Well i will keep you ladies posted.
