they were talking this mornign about how crazy women get with spending when it comes to their weddings... carolina was talking about how she wanted to buy $2400 christian louboutins for her wedding, and they said she was nuts
have you found yourself spending a crazy amount of money on things just because 'its your wedding'??
I think that i have been amazingly reasonable with everything. my dress will be the only thing that I spend a lot of money on, but its my dress...

ooo i wonder which pair she wants!
hmmm, the only thing i would say that we spent more money on than what I wanted to was the wedding b/c it's 'once in a lifetime' and we'll never do it again. it was an excuse. I'm sure we could do it again

well my dress cost an arm and a leg...but I said yes it's my wedding. I think everyone splurges a bit since it's their wedding and it only happens once

I don't use that as an excuse for money....but for an attitude reasoning. When FH and I fight over things his mom wants, my first response 'I don't care- its my wedding'
We've been on budget for most things, and as soon as I SELL MY *#!*$@* dress, I will be on budget for my dress as well

That is my excuse for everything.
Edited because I didn't mean to quote myself haha - I meant to just edit the first post. I obviously need to go back to bed.

no way jose. For me, and I am probably in the minority here, so don't hate on me but it is just one day. I refuse to spend my entire life savings on a 4 hour party. I always tell myself the day is about the marriage, not the party, so with that in mind I've allowed for things that I really want within reason, but don't go overboard.
But I totally understand those who can and will buy whatever they want, because it is true that you only get married once! If you've got the money, thats your choice!

No, I've been pretty reasonable but there are certain really specific things that I am willing to spend more on. For example, I've never liked the way my makeup came out professionally so I am willing to pay more money for a makeup artist that I LOVE but is a lot more expensive than others. Most things for the wedding though I have been very economical with.

yes and no im being smart about some purchases and basically using coupons and any discounts i can get my hands on for everything i can ....on the other hand there are certain things i wont go cheap on like my hair for the wedding (i have insane curly/frizzy hair seriously its truly crazy hair) so i dont care what its gonna cost me i want it to look good the day of, and the wedding is the only way im rationalizing spending money on a personal trainer

Re: anyone listen to z100 this morning?
I've been reasonable with most things but we completely went for the honeymoon.
There is no way I would ever spend that much for a vacation again and FH and I will probably have a not too long after we get married so we wanted one kick a$$ vaca before we started a family.
The thought ' well it's our wedding' definitely slipped when discussing honeymoon

Oh please. I went into this wedding planning for a simple hall with no chandeliers because thats all I wanted for my wedding and I wasnt spending more then 20k zero extras and that included the hm. We didnt have anything in savings and only a year to plan We splurged on everything from not using the halls linens to a photobooth to uplighting to two dress and custom rings and two photographers and are now 3x the budget but we paid cash so we wont have lingering debt after this only a very sad bank account.

I've splurged on a few things but I think I have a pretty kick *** wedding coming up....
We are not using credit cards at all which is AWESOME... we will come back from our HM with nothing left to pay except for the final amount to our photographer!

I'm with you. FH was a bit more cavalier about costs until I started comparing the wedding costs to college tuition and how much we got out of a year there vs one day here.
my parents are not from NY so they dont understand... my mom wanted me to get married in the backyard umm NO mom Im having a hard time justifying to them the costs. because all they see is the bottom line and the number. $30,000 looks like a huge number on paper!!!

Re: anyone listen to z100 this morning?
yes! I would never in a million years spend as much money on a piece of clothing that ill only wear once in my entire life (dress). I cannot believe how much wedding dresses cost and still hate myself for spending as much as i did. it's just digusting!!!!!!!!!! all for one night!

I am with you here...hence our surprise reception and the reason I have planned a wedding in 3 months :) (def the way to get the best deals but make yourself a little nuts, lol) FH and I want to buy a house, not a wedding. I feel the party part has become so commercialized that the real meaning has sometimes been forgotten. Dont get me wrong I am all for the fairytale wedding :) and if i had expendable money things may have been different, but I dont know...its just not for me. Its a day all about me and my FH....it will be a day we will never forget no matter what.
