the Huntington Ballroom on Wall st. last night with FH and it was great!!!! We had so much fun. the package we got was very reasonable too for 595 we get 6 private lessons, 6 practice lessons and 6 group lessons. So on some of the group or practice lessons I can bring my Dad as a guest so we can learn the Lindy together perfectly!!! I want that soo bad, we always do it at weddings but I really dont do it I fumble around but for my wedding I want to do it perfect with him. FM is you need info. I rec them.

Yes The Ballroom of Huntington- you get 18 lessons for 595.00 you cant beat that anywhere, 6 are private and the rest either group or practice lessons, the practice lessons are better the instructors spend more time with you.

It is a great idea but choose your dance wisely. I saw a couple that chose a tango as their first dance and it just looked funny and unromantic. JMO.

Thanks for the info! My girlfriends and I are thinking of taking all of the men for dance lessons (4 couples total). Can they create a package for couples? TIA!

We went to Metropolitan Dance Studio. The first 1/2 hr trial is free. The owner is fantastic. We signed up for 4 private and 4 group lessons. My FH actually said he enjoyed it! The instructor was so patient. We're bringing our song next week!

I checked them out too they quoted me way too much $$$$ over a thousand. Nice place though.

Is that Huntington Ballroom on LI or in the city?

Sounds like a great package, but I'm in the city and there is no way I can drag FH out to LI that much.

We actually went to our first 'dance lesson' this past weekend at an Italian Social Club in Queens. Funny for several reasons:
1) We were the youngest people in the room by about 30 years.

2) The instructor was a dead ringer for Big Pussy (according to FH -- I thought he looked a lot like my uncle Carmine).

3) Big Pussy directed all of his instruction towards us b/c we were the only people in the room who didn't already know all the dances (remember -- everyone else has been doing this stuff for 50 years!).

4) FH was taking the lesson (Tango!) very seriously and kept cracking me up with his Tango Face.

But it was only $9 and they have them every Monday and Friday nights and Sunday afternoons. If we could change the senior citizen to non-senior ratio it might actually be cool!
