Wedding planning is hard but figuring out where to live seems harder. Is anyone moving to Long Island from Queens? What towns are the native Long Islanders moving to? Thanks!!

Yes there is a difference in the Massapequas.
North Massapequa is Plainedge school district, Massapequa Park is an Incorporated village (own court system etc) and then Massapequa. both of these are the Massapequa School district. I live in Massapequa Park with my parents...nice area. Many people live here and stay here and their kids stay here.....my father's brother also moved here when we moved here 14 years ago. Nice family neighborhood.

Re: Anyone moving to Long Island?
Massapequa is nice. Some of the homes are in the Amityville School District as well. Usually more east massapequa. Bellmore/Merrick vs N.Bellmore/N. Merrick. There is a difference in the elementary school districts since they each have their own district set up but meld together in the JHS/HS district. Both the elementary and HS districts are good. The main difference is the philospy of the elementary schools. If you live in South Bellmore/Merrick it is JFK, which is an outstanding academic school and your home is worth more. If you live in North Bellmore you are in the Mepham School area and North Merrick the Calhoun School area. All are good schools.
if you have time you should wait to buy since the market is still coming down. Good luck

And yes, there is a difference between N/S merrick bellmore. South Bellmore/Merrick go to a different school which is not the better of the schools in the district. The best in the district is Calhoun. You should try to stay central to north merrick.
Besides, just so you know South is VERY expensive.

N.Massapequa is a very nice area, that's where I grew up, it has very good schools as wall. A great place for children to grow up in.

Re: Anyone moving to Long Island?
We are! I am orginally from LI, but moved to Queens after getting married. We are not looking for houses on LI. We are looking in the Ronkonkoma - Medford areas. It is far because we do both work in the city, but we can get the house we want out there. We couldn't afford Nassau or Western Suffolk.

I am from Commack - grew up there, went to Commack schools. Its a great area, but really expsensive. The house prices are coming down, but the taxes in Commack sd are out of control.

Re: Anyone moving to Long Island?
I'm a native LI-er. I grew up in West Hempstead. FH and I just moved out of Long Beach to Lynbrook right on the border of East Rockaway. (Seriously, first house over the boarder!)

Re: Anyone moving to Long Island?
I am a native Long Island-er too. I grew up in N. Massapequa for 23 years then I moved to Queens and now Brooklyn because I work in NYC. FH is originally from Staten Island and this summer we're buying a home on Long Island
