Anyone not being introduced at the reception?

Anyone not being introduced at the reception?

Neither one of us wants to have introductions at the reception but I am having a hard time figuring out how to make a seemless transition from cocktail hour to reception. We aren't doing a first dance either so I was thinking of immediately going to the toast? Any suggestions? Anyone else doing this?

we have yet to figure this out as well...

i don't want to be the center of attention, FH is a total ham and wants to pretty much run the show . when i told him i didn't want introductions he looked at me like i had 5 heads, so it has been tabled for future discussion...

I have no suggestions, just wanted to give you credit for NOT doing it! I wanted so badly to skip the intro and first dance too. The way people reacted, you'd think I'd suggested a beheading at the reception! They were horrified So I was shamed into tradition!

Good luck!

Me too. I feel like its a curtain call following a broadway production. I dont want to do it. But FH love to be the center of attention, I dont know what we are doing yet.

I don't want to do the introductions either....it's hard enough for me to walk down the aisle!! We are doing a first dance, but it won't be a slow dance.. FH is more shy than I am, but he has been through this once before, so he should be OK, ha....All those EYEs on YOU...eeks!

You don't want to be introduced at all? We decided that just FI and I will be introduced..and then we will dance.

I would say that if you don't want to be introduced at all, then just walk right in with everyone else and once everyone is in have your band/dj announce that it is time for the toasts.

We have the same feelings... Just us being introduced b/c we feel we have to, not doing the bridal party or parents or anyone else.

We are skipping the intro. I'm not sure about the dance. First it was a no, & we were jsut haveing a jazz trio, but then i booked a 5 peice band, so we could danc eif we wanted, but reading your posts is making me rethink it all.
Are you havigna band or dj anything? Is you CH in a different room?
then I'd say you could have the dj/mc announce the first song & have everyone dance, or basically, just have them start playing & have the waiters serve the appetizer, & just go about the party.

Maybe by the time gets here, I will be sooo into it, (after the bridal shower, rehersal dinner), that I won't mind...We have thought of a few different ways to go about this...we could be done w/ our ceremony and just join the guests and mingle w/ smiles and hugs.... thank you for your suggestions! And we have about 4 First Dances songs picked...ha...

I always cringe when the bride and groom are announced to Rocky or Let's Get Ready to Rumble. It's a wedding - not a boxing match or hockey game!
We are skipping so many wedding things (no bouquet toss or garter thing) that we feel we should do something. If we are introduced - it will be very low key.

If the band leader says, 'LET'S GIVE IT UP FOR... . .' my mom will kill him. What exactly are people supposed to 'give up'???
A simple, 'Le'ts welcome the bride and groom' would be fine.

We will be going to our cocktail hour so the intro seems a bit strange at that point.

I am not doing the garter thing, but i am considering doing the bo-k, i have a few single girlfriends so i would do it for that. I wanted to walk the aisle alone, but my father is giving me away--it will kill my heart to leave my fathers arm to Scotts, (and i am 41!! but very very close to my dad)... i want my night to be different and personal and about family and friends....one big elegant party has to stay in my mind that is costing us a big penny....

LOL- I totally agree.

Our CH is supposed to be outside, & we want to attend it, so we can just walk inside with everyone else and sit down. I'm not sure if & when we are doing a toast.
We are not tossing anything & aren't doing parent dances, unless they really want to, my dad's a ham & FMIL is really sentimental, so they might want to.
I'd rather just dance to fast soeng with my dad, sort of impromptu- i'm sure that would happen at some point anyway. We're silly like that.

Re: Anyone not being introduced at the reception?

We weren't introduced, but we did do a first dance, so our bandleader just invited us up for the dance. One thing he did that might work for you was to invite everyone onto the dance floor for the dance after our first dance to wish us luck. That might be a way to get the evening started without introductions or a first dance.

BTW, I totally agree about the WWF-type intros...My parents told us that a number of guests mentioned that they appreciated that there weren't announcements of that type.
