No, and I don't think we're substituting anything for in place of it. Oh, I don't think I've ever heard of the hand ceremony? What is it exactly?

just posted it. have no clue how i found it but my priest had heard of it so it can't be totally weird...

Oh, no. I thought I misread when Heather said maybe a typo. I've actually heard of this poem before, and I think it's really beautiful! My FH doesn't like the unity candle thing, and I didn't find one I really loved. This I really like though. Maybe I'll run it past him.

yeah it's tough. I was wondering if we could skip it but the priest seemed to think it's important. Neither of us loved the unity candle or the sand ceremony; he seemed to be okay with this though

Oh good! I'm glad you found something you both like. Actually, I'm not even sure if I'd be able to hold it together through this...I just love the sentiment!

You just might surprise yourself. I'M a big mush normally! I just hope I happen to be calm that day. See, Denise cried her eyes out for days before, and then just glowed that day! I hope that's me!

Us either. Fh isn't even happy about getting married in a church, so he wants to make it as short as possible

I am not doing it either, and not replacing it. FH is a nervous person when he has to stand up in front of people, so we are making it short and sweet.

We are not using a unity candle - FH did not like the sand ceremony. We are doing the sharing of the mead, a handfasting at the end of our ceremony and in between we will tie a biminy twist which is a fishing knot. SOunds weird but when you read the ceremony designed for us it is really special.

sounds totally cool to me!

Thank you - Fh is an avid fisherman..hence the knot we are tying

Ohh, that's me! It's going to make me nervous enough being up there with all eyes on us!
