knowing my family membersfrom oot....they will just tell me to save my money lol.....

I'm not doing them. Not sure if it is rude or not when I was an out of town guest toa wedding the bride didn't do them. I didn't feel like I was supposed to get something. Go by what your family feels ...

I'm thinking about not doing them, too. My mom keeps telling me, 'That must be a Long island thing!' (I'm originally from Albany and most of my family lives OOT) So my side of the family won't be expecting them.
FH's side of the family probably won't expect them, either because we've been to weddings on both sides of his family (one in CT and one in Jersey). We were OOT and we didn't get or expect any OOT bags.
If I get time later in the summer I might do it, but ATM, it's not on the list.
I say go with your family on it.

We're not doing them....well, first we only have about 5 people staying in the hotel & most are from NJ....we just don't feel its necessary

i dont think i will be doing them either.. i have alot of them but i dont think they would care. I'm also sure if they are staying at a relatives home they will b e very well taken care of.

Not sure... so many OOT people are staying at different hotels. I can't imagine myself driving around to each hotel and leaving a bag there for them. But, we'll see.

I am not doing them. My entire family is coming from oot, but at one point lived in ny, so that forgos the li maps and cute li stuff, and I dont think its that necessary!

I have never received one from OOT weddigns i Have been to- but I am doing it- it didnt cost a lot of $$ AT ALL...we didnt do an elaborate bag-but it was a nice gesture and I think the guests will appreciate it

I'm doing them, to provide extra directions to the Church and reception, offer a few snacks, some water and some pamplets for area attractions.

I'm not - I think it's a nice touch, but I don't think the guests wonder where they are if they don't get one - I've never gotten one as an OOT guest.

We didn't. All my OOT relatives stayed with other relatives or went home the same day. Not to mention no one in my family has every done this at a wedding.

It's a nice touch but not required, IMHO.

we aren't......we had thought about it because we didn't have too many OOT, but now it turns out that we don't really have enough to guarantee discounts for everyone, so they are going to go wherever they end up! I'm not running all over the place to drop off bags

I don't think it is rude at all. Let's think about it, OOT gift bags are a relatively new phenomenon - and from what I hear it is very much a LI thing, not a nationwide thing.

I barely have enough $$ as it is, OOT gift bags are out of the question.

Ditto! Hotel gives them the stuff they need ~ what would I NEED to put in a bag for them? I don't understand this whole idea personally....
