anyone not doing STD?

I really don't want to spend money on Save the Dates. We are having a short engagement. My mom has passed on the date to everyone already. I will pass it on to all my good friends.

I'm only worried about FH's family and friends. I have to make sure he emails and lets all his friends and their wives/girls know. I also have to make sure all his OOT family knows.

If you didn't send out STDs, how did you tell everyone? Is it ok to just send out a big email or text to people telling them the date and telling OOT about the hotel block??

I'm asking because his cousin mentioned something about STD, but like my FMIL said, they didn't do these a few years ago and everyone went to weddings and knew from word of mouth.

It just seems everyone is doing it. Would like to hear how it went for people who didn't. Thanks!

lol... cause i only just got some addresses now... and I just never got around to it... cause im lazy... sooo many reasons...

i dont have hotel info or anything... and pretty much everyone knew our date... my mom has a big mouth! lol

I think the points about letting people know so they can make travel arrangements is a good one....and also letting people know they will prob be invited so they can start looking for gifts


you can always look for really cost saving STDs....a good friend of mine got a whole bunch of magnets with a pic of her and her FH and the date on them and it was really cheap. if you want me to find out the exact info FM me

The thing is our immediate familes know the date. I will let all my friends know. I just am worried about his family in NJ. I want to give them the hotel block info, but can't I just e-mail that?? hahah I don't have their emails though.

Gotta ask his mom. Can I just send some save the dates to certain people? Like OOT guests with hotel block info??? Or would that look bad?

We are only sending STDs to some friends and our aunts/uncles/ all OOT. You definitely do not need to send to everyone.

Or you can send everyone your wedding website (if you have one) and put the hotel information on there.

How far in advance should these be sent anyway? I really have to get a move-on and start planning this thing, huh??

I made them cuz everyone OOT bugged me for them, then 4 days after getting them, we pushed the date

But they only cost $33 for 40 with envelopes

I made some on vistaprint and just sent it to OOT guests and people I knew would need the date to get the time off. Otherwise, its just word of mouth.

You can try postcard save the dates since the postage is cheaper. Otherwise, they are not really necessary.
