I don't think I want a train on my wedding dress. I'm only 5'1' and tiny and I think it will be overpowering on me. (Mind you, I haven't tried on a single dress yet!) Funny though, because I love the look of a bustled train.

Re: Anyone not have a train on their wedding dress?
I love how trains look, but I wasn't sure I wanted one either. I am also only 5'1, but decided I wanted a train, once I tried on my first dress. My mother and sister would kill me if I didn't. The train does look really pretty, especially when you walk down the isle.

My train was pretty short as far as trains go I think it is called a sweep length. But if you dont want a train... its your day!

Re: Anyone not have a train on their wedding dress?
I didn't want one and got one anyway and wished I hadn't. DH stepped on it right after we took photos, before entering the CH and I had to carry it around most of the night. If I had to do it over, I would have followed my first instinct and gotten no train!
ETA: My SIL had a detachable train that she took off completely for the reception - maybe you can look for something like that.....

Totally up to you. YOu'll know once you try them on. My girlfriend is 4'9 and she had a train, but she did say the saleswoman at Kleinfeld's was very specific about which dresses were appropriate for her given her stature so that they didn't overwhelm her frame.

I had a detachable train, so I had the dramatic look for the church, then we removed it & didn't have all that extra material for the reception. It was nice not having to worry about bustling the train, dancing, etc...

I am 5'1 too, i have a long train and it is beautiful, it is less about length/height than it is about what you like... i wanted that long train which made me feel more bridey, but if you dont then you need to be comfortable and happy
