anyone not having a BP

anyone not having a BP

I am considering this because my BP is just not being helpful or cooperative. No one seems to be interested in ordering their dress and I don't feel like having people stress me out. Its things like this that make u really know who ur friends are. Seriously

Well I am but I know other girls on here havent and my friend who's getting married is only have a MOh and 1 bm, her sister and fsil. So, I wouldnt worry about it. You dont need anything bringing you uneeded stress on your day. At this point, you would probally resent them if they wanted to be bms because they were so un-interested before.

I'm not having a BP. Not even a MOH or BM. Though FH may ask one of his friends to just hold the rings but that's about it.

When I tell people this they either think it's completely strange or the greatest idea ever. LOL

I did not have a bridal party. No bridesmaids, no MOH, no best man, no groomsmen. Just me and DH.

I'm only having my sis and FH is having his brother.

MUCH simpler that way.
My sister had 10 girls, and it was a nightmare.

We are also having my two neohews and cousins daughter as FG.

My MOH was my best friend that I've known since college...many, many years ago.

My DH's BM was his best friend that he's know since college...many, many years ago

I completely understand where you are coming from, a lot of my friends have been married recently so we've all been through it over and over and just bc it seems like they are not interested doesnt mean u should count them out. Some friends are more excited then others but having to make a ton of phone calls to get everyone in to order the dress is part of the process. If you really feel in your heart that you don't want them then id do it sooner rather than later but maybe you can give them a chance bc i know i felt a lot of BM stress around the time we were ordering dresses but everything is fine now! I hope that helped

Re: anyone not having a BP

I have but it just seems like no one is interested. Its seems crazy to me because I'm the type of person to be there for my friends and I feel like none of them are there for me. Let's nt even talk aout my so called best friend that ws supposed o be there for my daughter's baptism and totally did not show up She is her Godmother and I can't change it cause the certificate is made already. Her baptism was last sunday and I still haven't gotten a call. I'm so frustrated and I think its more because of my personality and I feel like I'm getting the bad end of the bargain. I really feel after that incident that shecan't be trusted because we are spending too much money on this wedding to have her do that at the wedding....
Thanks for the advice girls

I'm not. Most likely a MOH and possibly 2 bridesmaids but doubt it. I haven't even asked anyone yet.

Re: anyone not having a BP

Seems to be its more common these days to not have one,, more common than say 10 years ago, although plenty of people still do.

I decided not to have a bridal party , for the very reason that it would just be more stressful, complicated and expenses for all involved.

Figured my friends could still be involved if they wanted to without having all the hooplah surrounding them being bridesmaids. I am having 2 MOH and 2 Best Men and also a flower girl and 2 ring boys, all of whom are family.
As for my friends I invited them over for brunch one afternoon shortly after we got engaged to tell them how much I appreciate them and that I want them involved just not having an official BP bc i dont want to put the burden on them. They all said Oh! but we would have loved to blah blah blah.. BUt i know that when push game to shove there would have been drama.. I mean i haveknown these girls for 20+ years.. and i know them well enough to know that everyone would have been difficult in some way. Anyway, they have been helfpul throughout the process without having any official duties (i.e. some have come dress shopping with me, others are helping me with DIY etc, and they are planning a bachelorette party for me).

Do what you want and what would make your life easier,...

Re: anyone not having a BP

I am not having a bridal party. I am only having my sister as my MOH and his sister is his 'best person'. We wanted to include our sisters (we both only have one sis). It takes away the hurt feelings of friends that are not asked to be in the BP. It's family only, everyone can understand that.
You certainly find out who your real friends are in times like these! It also works in a good way too, some girlfriends I had over the years really stepped up to the plate and I am so happy and grateful for that! ....While others are complete slackers! So take the good with the bad, focus on the ones that are there for you!

I'm having a BP, but its on the smaller size... but I TOTALLY feel your pain!! I'm having a MOH, a BM, a JrBM, and a FG.

And they have already driven me nuts!!

If they are going to be more of a hassle than a help, don't have them
