Anyone not having a full mass?

We arent b/c we are getting married on a sunday and my church doesnt let u have a full mass on sundays, just a ceremony.. so I was just wondering what everyone else was having and if you are having just a ceremony what it entails..

We are only having the ceremony as well. We are also getting married on a sunday afternoon. My church would let us have the full mass but the time slots are later because it IS a sunday. I want to make sure we have enough time before the CH to take pictures.

We are also having a ceremony becuase our wedding is on a Sunday. I prefer that anyway so its not as long. It worked out perfect.

They wouldn't let you have a full mass! I can't believe that!!

I am getting married on a Sunday and we are having a full mass...my family and I wouldn't have it any other way

We're just doing the ceremony, and that is by choice because FH isn't Catholic.
Basically all you don't have is communion.

We are also getting married on a Sunday and have the option to have a full mass. Right now we aren't sure what we are doing. We thought we didn't want a mass, but after meeting with the priest we are unsure. The priest told us we can change our minds up until the day before the wedding.

We are only having a ceremony...my FMIL was not a happy camper but that was not her decision...

Re: Anyone not having a full mass?

We arent having a full mass....my mother anf FMIL would have been upset....BUT we needed to have the ceremony at 11 (only time church could give) so that we could make it to our 1:00 CH....and as that is FH and i might have to miss a bit..which we DONT WANT....but b/c of money..it was better for us to have an afternoon wedding than paying more for the evening reception.....and FH would prob fall asleep on the altar is we were having a full mass. We will still have people do readings, and do a unity candle...and FH and I might take communion (just not for everyone..)

We are thinking of doing the ceremony only also.. and the family is up in arms! But, as I look at it, they are lucky we are getting married in a church! It just makes more sense to do the ceremony for us b/c we want to try to make it to the end of our cocktail hour...

We are not having a full mass either...just the short version. We have a lot of friends in their 20's with short attention spans, and they want to get right into the festivities - haha.

I am still debating...a full mass does sound nice, but I also want everything to be completely bilingual....that would run the mass to TWO hours....way too long...

so this is still up for debate.

Re: Anyone not having a full mass?

we are having a full mass- and we are doing some parts bilingual...
We are planning to do one reading in english and the other in spanish and have them both translated in the program... other parts will be bilingual- or vows will be in english

Families and fh and I absolutely wanted a full mass...

Re: Anyone not having a full mass?

We're not having a full mass - just the ceremony. Since we don't go to church (other than funerals), we feel it would be a bit hypocritical to go through the whole mass - neither of us would be likely to take communion since we never go anymore - so why the extra time? As Kiddo said, they're darn lucky we're getting married in a church at all!

PS - we're getting married on a Friday night - but I know that Sunday weddings at our church cannot be full masses.

Re: Anyone not having a full mass?

I am only having the ceremony. My FH and I hardly go to tchurch unless it is neccessary. Not only that I have sat througha wedding with the full mass plus the ceremony and it was so long and kinda became boring after a while so I don't want to do that to my guests.

We're hvaing an itnerfaith ceremony, but I have been to a catholic ceremony at church and it had the liturgy of the word, but not the eucharist, and then the wedding stuff, vows, unity candle, blesing of rings, flowers to blessed mother, etc

We are not having a full mass. I was on the fence about it, but FH said he did not want the full mass b.c it's quicker.
