Anyone NOT like MIL's/ your Mom's cooking?

I hate MIL's cooking! There are only 2 things that she makes that I love. Cheesecake and cod fish cakes. I can't forget johnny cakes. Although on a couple of occasions, she poured too much black pepper on the cod fish cakes and I was on fire!! Other than that, she puts too much salt on the steamed veggies, her rice is dry as all hell, she over fries everything, doesn't put enough cheese on the mac & cheese, and salads are just, not good! How you mess up lettuce, tomato, and cucumbers is beyond me! I dread holidays at their house. I don't eat any of her food when I am over there on a regular basis. FH and I always grab something or make something on our own. Sad part is that FH isn't a fan of his mom's cooking either.

My mom on the other hand is an awesome cook. She always makes overs so that all of us have extra food to eat the day after. We complain when she doesn't! And when FH is around he cleans his plates dry! On holidays everybody takes a plate home. My dad is just as great, if not better, than she is. But we can't tell my mom that. She gets upset

My MIL is not a bad cook, but everything is fried when she does cook it, or when she makes baked ziti there is so much cheese it is sickening.

But she oes make awesome mashed potatoes, my fav, but eveything is alwyas so fattening, she used butter and whole milk on everything, and the thought of even using better oil, has never come up either.

My mother's cooking is BLAH it has no taste to it at all My FMIL's cooking is soooo yummy I love going their for dinner

I love my mom's cooking, but my grandfather was a restauranteur, so she had good training.

My FMIL, on the other hand....... but I like FH's grandmother's cooking, she is incredibly talented - 90 years old & still runs around her kitchen & cooks for everyone, I swear it keeps her young.

i love my fmil's cooking. she makes the best italian food. my mom is a good cook too, but she makes the same things all the time, there's no variety.

My mom can make anything taste like your shoe! My MIL cooks like a world class chef! I LOVE going to dinner at her house!

My MIL is a good cook but she likes things spicy!!! She makes the best salads.

If it doesnt have cat hair on it, then its fish and im allergic ( i think she makes it on purpose) and she has a thing where she refuses to wash the lettuce cause she thinks it washes away the vitamins..

The cooking I don't mind (it's excellent) - it's the other 'stuff' I could do without!

My FMIL doesn't cook!! FFIL does all the cooking, and he cooks very well!

My Mom is an incredible cook, I love her cooking so much that she wrote a book of all her recipes for me. FMIL is so/so, she doesnt use any salt so somethings come out bland. BUT she does make some really good dishes, I love her tostones(sp?)

I give FH's mom the benefit of the doubt. She is much older and retired. I just grew up on seasoned food. FMIL cooks so bland. And she also uses fatty condiments. In comparison at home, my parents make healthier meals.

Wanda- I am surprised FMIL does not know how to cook. How did she get away with it all these years?

FH said through the years it got worse. So I think its old age. Who knows...

I do not like FMIL's cooking. She is always experimenting with new things and looking for healthier recipes and they stink. She has cooked for me porkchops with apricot jam, stuffing with almonds, banana's and i have no idea what else, instead of mashed potato's she made mashed squash, some weird asparagus side dish and who knows what else she has made that i just cant remember at the moment. FMIL can not cook

I love MIL's cooking...but my favorite Spanish dish, I don't like hers as much as one restaurant that we go to...and DH gets mad at me when I say that...and that I don't know what real Spanish food is supposed to be like...
