Anyone not LOVE their proofs?

I recently picked up my proofs from my photographer, and while I LOVED my engagement pictures, I wasn't happy at ALL with my wedding pics!

I had received pictures from other family and friends that I really liked, and I had thought DH and I looked great that day, but in my proofs, DH and I have huge bags under our eyes and just look terrible!!!

Also, they missed a lot of my *must-take* pics such as: a picture of DH and I dancing in the room before anyone else entered, a pic of the empty room, a shot of the chocolate fountain, a full pic of a centerpiece (I had high centerpieces and they only took a close-up pic of the top)!!! I also asked them to go to the tables and take pics of the people who weren't on the dance floor. I have NO such pics. Therefore, I have no pics of my Mom's and FMIL's older aunts, uncles and cousins, many of whom traveled HOURS just to be at our day.

There isn't even a good shot for our thank you. Either he's looking at me & I'm looking away or I'm looking at him and he's looking away... I asked DH what he thought and he was like... 'um, they're all bad. I don't care, just pick one.'

I am so disappointed after being sooooo happy with my e-pics. Is there anything you can do if they didn't take the pics on your must-take list?

Also, does anyone know if a photographer will take a non-professional picture someone else took and include it in your album if it's something they clearly forgot to take (like my chocolate fountain which was a GIFT from DH's good friend who also set it up and ran it for us)??

My wedding is NOT for two years and I am so very stressed about picking a photographer. I am sorry that you have had a bad experience - I cant imagine! Best of luck tho!

I have a silly question...Did you guys ask them to take pictures while you were with the people you knew you wanted pics with? So for example if you were with your grandma did you make sure they took more than one pic? Is there a way to tell? I think this is one of the reasons I need a DOC...to make sure the must take pics are taken..


They took a bunch of pictures with my grandmother and I only got one. When my grandmother looked at my proofs she actually said where's the rest of them. I've been going back and forth with the photographer and they don't have any of them and they have no explanation of what happened to them. My DH said they might of went through them and just kept the best....which I hate.

We had a very detailed list for the photographer. Left no stone unturned. Unfortunately during the day, the last thing on your mind when you're standing with someone or talking with someone is 'oh, wait, where's the photog. I need a picture'


Exactly. And I had a DOC, so that doesn't necessarily help. They can't be everywhere doing everything!

That's what I was worried about! I'm so sorry! That is totally wrong of them...why would they do that? Do you think they take 1000+ proofs and then chop it down themselves to 800 proofs that they will actually show you? That's not right!

As much as I like my proofs I don't love them. I guess I expected more.

I'm also very upset because I have one picture of DH and I w/my 90 grandmother that I hate of us and that's it. I put on my must-take photo list pix of bride /grandmother and groom and I got one that's it. Ugh when I think about it it gets me so angry.

Just be glad you got one with your grandmother - my photographer neglected to take the pics of me with grandparents. I literally woke up in the middle of the night one night of our HM crying b/c I realized this. UGHHHHH

ya know what though, I am nerovus about this too. BUT I think people have a bit of unrealistic expectations due to the pictures they see people post on here. The thing is that people post the BEST pics and Im sure not all 700 of their proofs are that amazing. So I think people look on here and then have these expectations that even the best photgrapher would have a hard time meeting.

I have just noticed A LOT of neg opinions about many different photgs on the site lately and was thinking about this.

My Cousin had the same problem... and also had the same Photographer as you Wed Head... She had no pictures of ANY of her close family... Only of the Party Whore... who my cousin hardly knew... she was a guest of someone she invited... My Cousin said she was in MOSTLY ALL HER PROOFS!

I feel exactly the same way. I have been having sleepless nights just thinking of photography.

Is there anything in your contract about these types of problems. Not that it would help since you don't like the pics but maybe he will throw in some more freebies.
Can you FM me who you used?

Also, sometimes when wehave high expectations and first see pics they seem awful but maybe after a few weeks you'll look through again and see them differently.

I have a similar thing going on w/ my proofs. I sort of wish I made them take 'formal table shots' of all the tables...
