Anyone NOT registering?

Anyone NOT registering?

I was talking to FH this morning about setting aside some time to put together our registry. He said he doesn't want to register because he feels it is asking people for gifts, this day is a celebration of our marraige, not about gifts.

I agree the focus is and should be our new life together, but there will be gifts for the wedding and the shower and I really think our guests would prefer there to be a registry ...as would I so I don't have to return 15 toasters after the fact

I'm just wondering if anyone has not or is not reigstered? How did it work out?

Thanks

Well, I think registering is really for the bridal shower. Are you planning on having one? I think if someone is going to throw you a shower you should register- like what you said below- without a registery you may get 15 toasters and a whole bunch of stuff you don't want.

honestly- u need to if youre having a shower. It's honestly not a rude thing, it's pretty much expected. And if you dont register, believe me, youll have alot of p!ssed off guests

Totally agree... you have to think of it as your guests are helping you start your new life together and that includes household items, money, etc. That's all apart of a wedding. To get you guys ready for your future and people want to congratulate you by buying you things.

Plus, the things they get you, you will need and use when you have guests over for dinner. Everyone will be happy to see you used their platter they got you to serve veggies or something. LOL!

Thanks, I agree that our family and freinds want to help us start our new life together - that's how I feel when picking out things for weddings and baby showers.

It is funny how differently we think sometimes

Well to be honest, most men have no interest or just say what your FH said, what do you mean register, thats asking people for gifts, they dont understand anything about the process unless they have a few sisters. So just tell him its what brides and grooms do and that you will get gifts, no matter what, so you may as well register for what you like right. He will get it after a while, mine did

I believe nowadays people welcome and expect registries particularly for the bridal shower... Do not deprive yourself of this fun experience ---and I don't believe the guests will be offended in any way. Just make sure you give your guests an array of price ranges-- that way you are not forcing anyone to spend more than they feel comfortable.

Outside of NY wedding gifts mostly come from the registry as well...in NY people tend to give money instead.
