The title sounds terrible but seriously... Anyone not send them out and get any negative feedback because of it?
I'm debating whether it's a good idea or not
I understand that it's good for OOt guests but they all know that we're engaged and booked lol!
Just wondering if anyone didn't send them out and if it made that big of a deal TIA!!!

There are pros and cons to sending STD's. for example:
Pro: Telling people in advance when your wedding date is so they don't accidentally make plans for that day.
Con: most people hang them at work or on their fridge and other people see them (especially the ones that were not invited) and it brings up the awkward question...am i invited...y not?
I gave out stds during my e-party and ran out of them so I'm not sending any more they can just mark the date once they get their invites.

I think Save the Date's are a nice idea , if they are within the confines or your budget... I personally cant afford any extras... I think they are neccessary if you are getting married on a holiday weekend , or having a destination wedding. Either way the word gets spread on its own somehow I wouldnt worry

We didn't send them out either. Everyone told us to send them because were gettting married on a Friday of fourth of july weekend and people will go away. We didnt want to spend the extra money and I simply didnt want to be bother getting the guest ready so early in advanced. Despite not sending them and getting married on a holiday weekend so far we have only a handful of declines and we knew about these long before anyway! They are really not necessary!

I didn't send them. Our guest list is so big that we're actually hoping for a bunch of No responses - and the way I see it, STD or not the most important people will be there.

We didn't send out save the dates. I believe they are only appropriate for out of town guests who may need time to make travel and hotel arrangements.

I am not sending them, we don't have that many OOT guest so I will just tell them verbally . Plus I can't imagine the last wkend in february is a popular time for travel lol!

I am only sending to family and bridal party. Everyone else was told when the wedding was (verbally) or can look at our wedding website. We dont want to send them out and then be forced to invite them. This is more so for friends then family bc FH has a large group of friends and as time progresses people lose touch. I also dont want to send it to co-workers bc i feel that if they (or i) were to leave the job that we would lose touch as well. IMO its not necessary to send them.

I'm sending them about a year ahead of time b/c we have a lot of OOT guests but you definitely don't have to do them.
If you're worried about having a problem, you should just get yours through Jean M - become a fan on Facebook and 100 STDs are free and you only pay $12.99 shipping. They're postcards so postage is cheaper than regular envelopes

I sent them b/c I was very worried about meeting my minimum and the STDs really helped in that area (I think).
If you are worried about having too many people at your wedding (and are hoping for a lot of Nos), then I wouldn't send out STDs. But if you are worried about meeting your min, I would send them out.

There are a whole lot of save-the-date videos on youtube. If you have time and inspiration, you could make something like that and email out a link. No postage or printing required
Then again, if everyone has already heard about the date, I wouldn't bother.
lol! Thanks girl! I think that I'm going to work on a wedding website this weekend and just make sure everyone has the link so they'll know exactly when it is :) Good idea!

plus...
we have a b-list (and c-list!) so it was hard to pull it off with STDs!
