Re: anyone not using a card box
i'm not using a card box. some of them are really SO cute but i feel like they look kinda... i don't know...i wouldn't want my guests to feel that they have to go over to make a deposit, and that that's what we're all about, you know what i mean?
i got a simple white satin money bag.

we have to figure out who's going to keep an eye on it.... but we'll pick it up sporadically throughout the night.

Re: anyone not using a card box
I got a photo card box with a lock on it. I was afraid that i might misplace the money bag or even it might get stolen (sorry, i have heard some crazy stories...) The photo card box is cute and it doesnt really look like the typical card box (its nice enough to be reused as a decoratvie piece in your house after the wedding) If I did end up with a money bag though, I would more than likely leave it with my mother and have her keep an eye on it, or even my DOC

Re: anyone not using a card box
We are using a standard white box that the reception hall provided us - nothing fancy.

Alot of people will use a very fancy Birdcage or even a fancy decorated mailbox top.

Re: anyone not using a card box
I used one of the smaller suitcase boxes that ACMoore sells. and now keep all the cards in it as a memento/memory box. It's compact and fits in a drawer nicely. the RH placed it like it was a card box near our table and when I was given cards I just put them in there. I think since it was near our table in an 'obvious' spot no one would try to take anything out but the guests didn't really notice it to be a card box for them to go to. I felt that was easier than a silk bag - - sometimes you get cards that are so big they don't fit in those.

Re: anyone not using a card box
I bought a pretty, vintage-looking birdcage from Michael's for about $13. I plan on using that to keep cards in.

While I think card boxes are sooo cute, we plan on using a satin white bag. I believe that they usually come with your bridal gown or the bridal store can give you one. I think this is a nicer and more personal touch, that way we can go around and greet all the guests who came to our wedding. IMO I think card boxes, or anything similar, is a little bit cold. JMO!Also, my mom volunteered to keep an eye on the bag when we have other things to attend to.

even though i had a cardbox, i went around to each and every table and say hello to every single guest, had 275 guests and made sure to say hi to everyone. It was more to have somewhere for us to keep the cards. So if people put them in there we still went over to say hello and then many still handed it to us. For me personally i wanted somewhere safe to keep the envelopes and not have anyone watching them. At my e-party we didnt have anything and luckily i had a gift bag and put them in there, my mom had to watch them and sometimes when she wanted to get up and dance she wouldn't bc nobody else was able to watch the bag, i felt bad.
But cardboxes arent to avoid saying hello, its to keep them safe and i made sure it was BIG so nobody can just walk out with it since there have been incidents at weddings where a cardbox or money bag was stolen, sometimes the whole thing or sometimes ppl just steal some of the envelopes

Re: anyone not using a card box
I am not having one. I will prob use a white satin bag and ask my father - who will not get up and dance, other than our dance, to keep an eye on it. He doesn't drink and will pretty much worry about it more than I would. I think the RH has a safe in the bridal suite that you can use and you select your passcode for the night. I have to confirm. But some RHs have them.

Re: anyone not using a card box
i am actually renting from my florist, its gonna be horses carrying a carriage (thats where guests put envelopes), and she's gonna decorate with flowers. That thing is soooooooooo beautiful.... It was one of the main reasons why I made my choice with her lol!!!

My sister friend had a mailbox, which my sister used for her wedding and i will use it as well. Also a big suggestion is to kept the envelopes with an older closer guest ie, like a grandma/grandpa. They dont move around that much/

my grandmother is 78 and she danced all night, more than most ppl. We got afraid after a bit and kept making sure she was ok. She was dancing around like crazy, and at one point DH and BIL were dancing with her in a circle lol. DH's grandmother was very sick and had just gotten out of the hospital and went back soon after so she left after an hour.
