I have a baby beagle (tic tac)....and she hates to clean her ears. I hope I am not hurting her. The vet just said, it is a little bit uncomfortable. What do you guys think.

How are you cleaning them... my vet told me to us a warm moist washcloth and gently swab the ear. My pooch doesn't have floppy ears, btw... not sure if that makes a difference.
You should only use cotton balls or wash cloths, just not q-tips. Their ears arent shaped like ours, so q-tips can do damage. FM me if you need more info.
ETA- What are you using? Water or an ear cleaning solution?

When you say cleaning, how are you doing it? Don't use q-tips..like Spitzergirl said, use like a damp gauze and just gently rub the ear (I think it's otoclens that you use or some other fluid that your vet recommends).

Hello ladies...
I am using R-7 Ear cleaning & deodarant Pads. I squeeze the solution in the ears..to make sure it is in there, then I wipe it with the cotton pad. I also, use extra puff, cotton balls to make sure no moisture remains-after cleaning.
I also have R-7 liquid cleaner. She runs anytime, she sees me with the cleaning solution. I think, it is uncomfortable for her.
She really has floppy ears. SInce she has gotten older 11 months. I notice her ears are not as dirty as they were, when she was 2-3 months old. I think, she is cleaning them herself at times.

This is Byron! We only really need to clean Byron's ear's as a pup because he would get yeast infections but we haven't had a problem since. I had ear flush and would swab him with cotton.
Wow, you let your baby on a bed, my little guy would be so jealous! Dh set that rule early unless you could wipe your own butt or wore a diaper you couldn't sit on beds or the sofa...

I have a beagle. I use the cleaning solution from the vet's office and Q-tips. I lean the dog to one side and insert the swab into her ear. The amount of stuff that comes out is amazing. However, you can't clean them too often. Her ears get cleaned about every 6 weeks or so.

My dog has chronic ear probs. They are yeasty smelling - what I do is, I take the cleanser I got from the vet and put a paper towel around my pointer finger, saturate it w/ the fluid and put my finger right in her ear and wipe around. Sunny loves it - she likes to lean right into my finger!!
Then she runs around like I put a stick of dynamite in her tush!!
Don't ever put the liquid right in the ear b/c of the shape of th dogs ear canal - the fluid gets in there and you can have more problems...
Anyone have a dog who is a compulsive licker?? Mine is...

My beagle loves to have his ears cleaned too! he lays his head side ways on the floor and everything. He gets all ready, its so cute! We just use baby wipes. Its gets everything out and its so simple. We read it in a beagle book I got from a library.

Tic Tac hates to have her ears cleaned!!! She gives me such a very hard time. I have to hold her down.

here is a pic of fiona. As for cleaning her ears, right now she is on medicine for her ear infections that she had when we adopted her! (we have had her just a little over a month, and she was a sick little thing when we got her)
ok i lied, i tried to post them and i cant get it to work! i will work on it later...have to do some work before i leave early for the weekend!
