Anyone paying for their BM dresses?

Anyone paying for their BM dresses?

Okay, so FH, who turns out to be a Groomzilla decided that we should pay for the BMs dresses and all the tux rentals. This isn't such a big deal since I am only having two BMs and one MOH and he is only having his three brothers. He tells me its common in Ireland for the Bride and Groom to pay for the BMs dresses and the tuxedo rentals for the GMs. Is anyone else doing this for some or all of you bridal party? I need this like I need a hole in the head but at least now I won't feel guilty about a certain style, color or price.

And - since I think we're going to do this - who has the best prices for dresses and tux rentals on Long Island?

Finally, if we do this, do you think we should also get them a gift. I think we should but I don't know - maybe just a token?

i didnt pay for my BM's dresses but i did pay for all of their hair/makeup to get done...all 6 of them!

If you are gonna pay for them check out David's bridal. we got our BM's dresses from there and the prices were great!

since i paid for their hair/makeup i still wanted to get them something small to give them at the RD so i got them tote bags with their names embroidered in them and jewelry boxes with their names engraved.

I had to pay for all 3 of my girls dresses too (130 apiece from David's Bridal) 'cus it's asian tradition to do so, i also paid for their hair and gave them a very cute clarins travel tote with a bunch of full size clarins products inside, it's absolutely cute and looks more expensive than it really is.

Altogether I must have spend about $250 per girl.

I got it at Saks just last week so they may still have it.

As for tuxes, I paid 59 bucks per tux at Men's Warehouse from a bridal show special. I paid for the two dads, brother, ringbearer and also gave both my brother and ringbearer a gift of worth 50 bucks each.

Hope that helps! I posted my review of my Sunday wedding so you can read all about the vendors there. :D

Thanks Eden and Alnem. I will check into all of those tips. Intresting that its also an Asian tradition as well as Irish. I wonder if its only in America that the Bridal Party is expected to pay for their attire.

We didn't do it for our BMs, but we did pay for the GMs tux rentals as their gift. I think it's a great idea, especially if your BP doesn't have the $$ to spare. If you do pay for their attire, I don't think you need to worry too much about a gift, something inexpensive or a hand written, heartfelt letter thanking them for everything should be fine.

I have 7 girls, but only paid for 2 of their dresses because they paid for mine when I was in their BP. So I returned the favor

I have 6 BM, 1 MOH and 2 Jr BM. I'm helping one of my BM out with the deposit, but there's no way I can afford to purchase for all of them.

FH and I might rent my brother's tux for him since money is going to be tight around that time (him and his fiance are getting married Nov. 11 and have a baby on the way, but he's a GM).
