Anyone planning on facing their guests during the ceremony (or know someone who did)?

Anyone planning on facing their guests during the ceremony (or know someone who did)?

FH and I are most likely getting married at our reception site and we are having a Jewish wedding (although that doesn't necessarily matter for the purposes of this question, unless someone can give me a religious reason for their answer). I always thought it strange that the only one who gets to see the expressions on the bride and groom's faces during the ceremony is the one performing it. Has anyone gone completely the other way and had the officiant with his/her back to the guests and the bride and groom facing out? Does anyone think that this would be too strange or tacky? I want to abide by traditions to an extent, but also want a unique wedding that people will remember.

During the vows you actually face each other

I think the reason you face forward is so that you are facing the altar. I don't know if it is the same thing for a jewish ceremony

That certainly makes sense, but if I'm not getting married in a synagogue, there won't be a Torah to be facing, or any religious symbolism (except for the chuppah). I guess I'm just wondering if it's one of those things that is forbidden in some sort of unwritten (or written) wedding rule, or if it would probably make people think that we're just too dumb to stand in the right place!

at a wedding I was at last weekend, the couple sat on the side, so they weren't exactly facing the alter or the guests, but it was nice cause you weren't just starting at their backs - you got to see their faces too.

I'm imagining all your guests looking around like what the.... I guess speak to your officiant and see what they say. It would be nice for your guests to see you the entire time

Plus, if I'm facing them, I can shoot the evil eye to all the little chatterboxes that cannot seem to contain themselves for a whole 15 minutes of their lives. I'm always amazed at weddings that people can't just shut their pie holes during the most important moment in two people's lives! And believe me, I've got a very evil eye!

I'd talk to your officant. Maybe they can help.

The evil eye, AKA 'The Look,' will be on reserve the day of my wedding should anyone even think of doing anything to cause any trouble. It's quite effective and only the recipient need see it.

I would love to hire you for my wedding, I too seem to have and give that look, but by having you there, instead of me looking like the brazilla-bride, you can be the evil one, and no one will know!!!

LOL I can be very discrete, and I promise, I'll give you a discounted rate. Heh, maybe I can fund my own wedding this way!

I have never seen this actually done, but I have heard of it, and I love the idea!!

I am going to ask my officiant about this.
