My invite stamp cost is $.57 each. But, I decided to 'waste' the extra .11 and put 2 stamps on. Just wondering what everyone is doing for invites that are more than $.34 (more than one stamp). I bought the flower ones, and am not sure if I should put 2 of the same flower on the invite or mix it up. I know I'm sweatin' the small stuff but hey.....

Anyone putting More than 2 stamps on invite????
When I sent out invites out in AUgust 2001, the postage had just changed and they did not have a .57 cent love stamp yet. so I had to use a .55 one and a .02 one. It didnt look that bad and I think the only person that was bothered by it was me. Think about it...do you ever look at a cancelled stamp on any of your mail?? LOL...but I know as a bride these things really bothered me!
Good Luck

We bought 57cent stams (the ones wth the roses that say love). I had to go to the post office anyway to get the stamps so I figured why not get the right ones.

Financially troubled Post Office .. gotta luv `em
Last year, we moved up mailing our invites by a couple of weeks to avoid the rate hike, and we sent them the day before it was to go into effect. I also wasn`t happy when I heard the 57 cent stamps wouldn`t be ready for the change, so that was another reason.
I think it`s pathetic that the Post Office is struggling so much, and that they keep raising our rates. I understand cost of living changes .. but why can`t they get it right so they`re not making changes so frequently?! Last year, they had raised the rates in, I believe, January, then about six months later, they raised some of the rates again .. but not the first class 34 cent rate. Now they`re going to raise that rate. If I had to do it all over again, I absolutely would not give them the extra 11 cents. They need to learn how to run their business.

Raising their rates
I saw on the news that the Post Office is raising their rates because of the anthrax scare back in October. Now they are supposed to start irradiating and screening the mail. In other words, it's not the Post Office that should be blamed, but a murderer.

It`s always something w/ them ..
This was a sad, but convenient excuse for them to use. Did you know they have promised not to raise rates again! Yeah, until 2004 .. that`s only 1 1/2 years away.
I guess I`m just getting old, because I can say, 'I remember when' .. when as a kid stamps were 15 cents (in the early 80s).
Why do they raise rates by pennies at a time? Why not raise them by a rounded-off nickel, and keep the rate for a longer period of time? Those penny stamps are annoying. Plus, did you ever notice those change-over stamps always have a letter designation?
While noone can predict the future, a good business operation makes long-term plans for years down the line, not short term for only several months to just barely over a year. The screening they are implementing now, fine .. I could handle this current increase if they didn`t smack us with two rate hikes last year.
The USPS is an independent government agency that cannot make a profit NOR are they allowed to LOSE money. They cannot raise it a few more cents so that they can save some money ad not raise it again
...therefore when an unfortunate event happens and the post office uped their security...called in agents at all hours of the night so that OUR mail would be safe to open...I can't get upset with them trying to BREAK EVEN.

I ended up spending the extra $.11 per invite....
it's not a big deal for me. At this point I just want to get them out tomorrow, and I miscalculated what the invite would weigh and started stamping them w/ .34 stamps too early. So, then just added another, even though it was a waste of $$. Oh well...
