I really don't want to and neither does he but photographer is sort of insisting. Quite honestly, I don't care if I miss the cocktail hour. We have a very short one anyway! Suggestions?

I agree, you do what you want. You are paying your Photographer so it's your call how you want your day to go. My FH and I are seeing each other before because my ceremony does not start until 7pm and we want to attend out CH. It is 100% your call and don't let anyone tell you differently.

we are seeing each other. we wanted to take pics around Manhattan, and there was no way we could do that after the ceremony. I've actually heard that it is a good thing - it is calming to see each other beforehand and share those special moments alone and together.

We are doing it. It was my photographers idea actually and it does make sense. Since our wedding is at 3:30 he wants to do photos at DeSeversky prior to use the natural sunlight in hte windows. I like that idea, so I'm ok with it. My FH has already seen my dress, I'm not a big secret keeper.

Now that you say it, it does sound like a good way to calm down. Who better than your FH to do that? I may reconsider. Thanx.

Yup, we are! We'll have 3 hours for pics before the ceremony... don't want to rush anything.

Yup we are seeing each other before the ceremony. We are taking pictures at the Vanderbilt Museum in Centerport.
Re: Anyone seeing their FH before ceremony for pics?
It's not your photographer's call, do what you want to do. We decided we want to wait until after the ceremony.

We are. I didn't want to have to rush through pics. I'm jewish and we have to see each other before the ceremony to sign the ketubah anyway.

We didn't...if you don't want to do it your photographer really has no say.
Here's what we did... DH & family & guys in BP took pics. Then I arrived and took pics with my family & BP. Then we took together pics during CH. We had all intentions of going to CH, but honestly....when it came down to it having more pics was more important to us than going to CH. We had even extended our CH an extra half hour too.
Basically...my biggest piece of advice to all future brides...no matter how much planning, etc. you do something will always come up and change the day. You must be flexible.

We intended to, but with my hair dresser not showing up that morning, it put us under a horrible time constraint/delay we were unable to.

Re: Anyone seeing their FH before ceremony for pics?
We are not seeing each other so this is what we are doing
Photographer will take the following photos prior to wedding - FH and his family, best man, etc. - Me (getting ready) and with my family
After the wedding (it should take about 20 minutes). Photos of everybody together, Me and FH together.
That way, we still don't see each other before the ceremony and we don't miss the entire CH.

we are! we want to take our time with pics, 2 1/2 hours at least and we are getting married at the hall so its back to back. we will set up a 'special moment' for when he first sees me in my dress and such. its def your choice not the photographers. my photographer wanted to do it before as well, less pressure for time. ~Lacey

yeah screw the photog if he wants to try and tell you how to have your day! think about it, it doesn't matter to him if you and your FH see each other before-- i think he just wants to make it easier on himself. i would tell him thanks for the concern but we want it our way...
PS, cute cat!!!!!!

well i can see this side of it too of course-- i thought you really didn't want to see him before but if you like the 'calming' feeling of seeing eachother before then consider it but my point is, it's really about what YOU and FH want deep down-- the photog should have nothing to do with it... it all comes down to personal preference! some people like to see the other person, others like the big moment of 'when the doors open'...
good luck, HTH!!
