That calculation is the same as multiplying the # invited by .76. Which is saying that 24% don't come. I think the range usually falls between 15 - 25% don't come. I had 26% not come. And I had a lot of out of town guests invited.

Re: Anyone seen this - guest attendance equation?
Okay, rumor has it that it comes from a caterer's website (don't know which) and he used it for 30 years to figure out how much food to make. But I don't know - wanted to know if any of you did.
Although why it's so complicated is weird.

yikes, i lowballed my minimum amount because i did not want to get stuck paying for empty seats. i could potentially have 20-40 more than i said i would...hmmm...

That figure was about right for us. We are having 4 people less than the calculation (although we are not making our minimum by 10 people)

Re: Anyone seen this - guest attendance equation?
That sounds about right - you would think that 10-15% don't come...The banquet manager told me if I have invited 140, then expect about 120 ish.

Re: Anyone seen this - guest attendance equation?
after i wrote that i was thinking it was 10% for me 15% would be 120 so i think that's right what do i know! we are hoping to invite 140 and have 120

Re: Anyone seen this - guest attendance equation?
My FI is good with figures and he said that calculation is crazy,it's like the catering halls state, expect 15-20% of your guest list to be a no show - that's the reason for an A & B list
